My unit seems to be working fine after about 2 months.

Do I still need to keep the box? Just in case I need to send it back?

I threw my box away. But I have a four year extended warranty through BestBuy. So I won't need to deal with Sony if I have any issues.

I've kept the box in case the X1000ES becomes available here, I would sell the X800 in a heartbeat then.

They did not require the original box, no. Not sure any warranty would? Anyway, I just sent the unit and remote in a FedEx box.

I'm surprised they wanted the remote.

Was told today they received the player and confirmed me for a new unit replacement but they're currently out of stock and I have to wait for more to be manufactured. Also said I might get a newer model? Weird.

Could it possibly mean it'll have that thing on the front which I've been desperately yearning for?

Is it true that only the X1000 will get a DV update but not the X800?

Well F-it then if that's true, I'm not buying another UHD player just for Despicable Me 1 and 2 and maybe 2 or 3 more DV titles that might be along the movies I will buy this year.

I'll let other people (looking at you, Geoff) figure out if it really is worth it and then when Sony releases a DV player sometime next year, I might consider getting one.

I did not keep the Oppo, so I am just going to use my Sony's until next year and see what players come out with DV. Just dont really care at this point.

It's probably just a standard thing they say in all cases. That's my bet. I'm more just annoyed they don't have the stock to ship me one immediately. I've got three UHDs I haven't watched and two more coming next week!

After all the horror stories in this thread I'm a bit fearful about getting a 4K UHD Player. I was hoping that some stores would have a Black Friday Sale on 4K UHD Players that would be under $200.00 this November & a Sony Brand is what I would be looking for the most, not to say that another brand would be any less reliable than Sony. Maybe I will just get an X-Box 1S since those would probably be priced cheaper than any stand alone 4K UHD player that anyone would be offering.

I don't own one but from what I have read, an Xbox One S would be the worst choice for a UHD player...

Had my first major playback glitch on the Sony player last night, at about the 2h57m mark in King Kong it stuttered and skipped despite me wiping the disc down before playing it. I gave it another wipe, played it again and rewound past the point where it broke up and this time it played as normal.

Also had a glitch last night.

I usually turn on the player first if I want to watch a movie, TV and receiver (both Sony) will turn on also via the Bravia sync function when doing that and the TV will then go straight to the X800. This time however the TV did not go to the HDMI port to which the X800 was connected and when I chose it manually, there was no picture, just a black screen. Turned the player off and booted it up again and the picture came back on. Unfortunately the TV seemed to be upset by this cause I could not pull up the picture settings menu, tried 6 times but it didn't show. I also noticed wi-fi was disabled for some strange reason. I just started the movie and after 5 minutes or so the picture settings menu suddenly appeared...6 times in a row.
