I get his character is an egomaniacal cocky SOB, but he definitely should have got a punch in the face for that one. I really wanted all the people holding Rooster back to let him go & say "You know what? You're right. He's a prick. Deck him".

As for the rest of the pilots, the first time I watched Maverick, I thought they were all a bit one-note, but then I went back & watched the original again & hey, pretty much all the pilots in that one have exactly the same level of depth (or lack thereof) to their characters too. It's kind of a perfect homage.
He deserves a special Oscar for that grin.

It's more the fact that no-one does or says anything about it. At the very least, someone could have said "Dude, that's out of line" or something, but everyone seems cool with him laughing at Goose's death.

I'm in no rush, I still have plenty of time to see it.

* What I like is what it's doing during these times of chaos in the world.
This is Hollywood, in the United States of America.

* The colors of the dots (mine) ... my predictions haven't changed.
Maverick is still playing in some IMAX theaters. Maverick is like Avatar, almost (he's closing on it).

Agreed. It wasn't particularly boomy and you had to turn it up way louder than your standard movie to get the effects. Those jet engines should be blowing my walls down. The sound was just kinda meh despite having it turned up to -14dB.

Finally watched on Itunes. It lived up to the hype. Loved they included the Imax scenes.

I've heard Top Gun 2 has way more action/excitement than the first Top Gun, which spent way too much time in the classroom setting and land, instead of in the sky. With that in mind, I'll consider seeing it maybe Saturday for $3 after Jaws 3D.

This film is so darn popular it's rescued Cruise's The Mummy from oblivion. Apparently it's one of the top streaming movies currently on Netflix UK

You serious? The movie was such a turd it literally killed the plans for an entire Monsters cinematic universe

Tomorrow TG:M will be worth a smidgen below $693.4 million.
After the long weekend (if that $6.6 million prediction above is about right) do the math ...

Bye bye Black Panther next week.
And bye bye Frozen II (world) before the Sumner is over, Thursday September 22 (Pacific Time).

* Internationally TG:M is gong to climb few more ranks.

Screenshot_20220831-223535_Chrome.jpg

And remember; TG:M is not even playing in China and in Russia.

I can't quite imagine any scenario where it would ever have been allowed to play there, honestly.

That's not what I meant. I'm talking strictly numbers here.

And I'm glad it's not playing in those two countries; Hollywood doesn't need Russia and China right now. It's very good that Maverick is taking a break from them.

Yeah we're not going to see a lot of US movies playing over there any time soon.
