May 2022 will probably be more crowded.

Top Gun has a built in older male audience that will definitely see it in theatres. Release it asap.

Yes. But just cause they are open. Doesn't mean people are going much. As indicated by the box office.

This movie will make a fortune when it gets released problem is whatever they "will make" they will have lost by shelving it for so damn long. AT LEAST I still get Ghostbusters and No Time to Die this year.

Interest rates are extremely low. Not enough to affect the cost of delaying a movie.

I wish I could. I would rather see the delay and have Paramount walk away with dump trucks filled with cash, then see them release it as previously scheduled and make a fraction of what this movie could make if they only waited. The pandemic should be over by April 2022.

Great movie to kick off Summer 2022 with a Memorial Day weekend release.

They had said the pandemic should have been over by now. No one can predict whether next summer will be better or worse conditions than now. They're just taking a pointless gamble. More people might get vaccinated, but the vaccine efficacy could wear off for people who already got it this year by next summer. And ramping people up to get booster shots may be even more difficult then getting them vaccinated in the first place. And a lot of people may still refuse to get vaccinated. And the virus could mutate into something more deadly. From what I read, that doesn't sound likely, but it's a possibility. Also, just because vaccine deaths drop, doesn't mean people will actually decide to return to theaters as quickly. There are way too many variables to just say business at theaters is going to be better by next summer.
