That might be the standard edition and they just put a picture of the LE there for some reason. It doesn't say gift set or anything on the mame for the product.

Same UPC as the standard set, so just the wrong image from Walmart.

Meh, even the timing of the release is wrong: "November 10" That's about a month too late for watching them on October 21 with Pizza Hut & Pepsi.

Not that I feel any need to upgrade my 2020 4K set anyway. A less digitally polished transfer with untapmered stereo track is obviously too much to ask for a major label.

Seems they don't limit it to 1 set per customer anymore

Yeah, the giftset should just have all three seperate steelbooks in it honestly, that would be a lot more tempting. As it is, I'm like 50/50 on this. Just as likely to cancel it as to let it ship. And even if I let it ship, I might even return it unopened when I have 30 additional days to come to my senses!

I never bought any BTTF trilogy, so I guess I’ll finally bite. Going for the standard, since I like the original artwork. A little tempted to get the Amazon exclusive but I’m not a swag guy and worried that the steelbook included is several discs stacked. Should be individual steels.

I already have the second 4K set, but I'll be re-purchasing this just for the new bonus disc. I'm always eager to see and hear more about filmmaking, and this trilogy is one of the best ever done.

Nice! That means I only have to buy the first movie since A) I only want the new special features and B) I already have the 35th Anniversary 4K set (and I'm assuming the picture quality for all three movies will be exactly the same as the 35th Anniversary 4K set).

Of course, if all of those new special features are added to the digital version on Fandango At Home then I won't even bother rebuying the first movie on disc.

I'm also guessing BTTF: The Ride included in this new set is still the same old non-remastered version from the 2009 BTTF 1 DVD. Oh well, at least there are some damn good BTTF: The Ride remastered vids on YT.

Based on the vibe I got from that horrible 40th anniversary trailer, I'm sure this box will be given the royal Jurassic Park trilogy treatment.

Most of these extra items are also in the “Ultimate Visual History” book. Still a cool set.

Default Number of Discs Question

Ok, question...the upcoming Part 1 and Part 3 4K steelbooks have blu-ray bonus discs yet the new 4K 40th Anniversary set only has 5 Blu-ray discs (with a new bonus disc). Something is off here...my assumption is that the trilogy set has the exclusive on the new disc so wouldn't it have 6 Blu-rays if it also contains the blu-ray bonus discs from both the Part 1 and Part 3 4K steelbooks?

Is the bling the only difference vs. the previous 4K trilogy?

Not sure about why you are questioning your count there….
BTTF: UHD movie disc, BD movie disc, BD (new) bonus features disc
BTTF II: UHD movie disc, BD movie disc
BTTF III: UHD movie disc, BD movie disc, BD (old) bonus features disc

That’s 8 discs total: 3 are UHD, 5 are BD…you get the same discs whether you buy the three steelbooks separately or buy the 40th anniversary trilogy set
The “original/35th anniversary” 4K trilogy set had 7 discs total (only one bonus features disc)….the new bonus features BD is the only new thing being added.
