Each to their own.

The SL (single layer) of streaming Dolby Vision isn't the same grade values quite often as the disc. Maybe in some cases it is. But the discs being the Dual layer proper DV implementation are superior, especially when it's FEL

So, feel free to enjoy a likely inferior DV experience on top of the compression differences between disc and streaming copies.

just because in this case it is something that technically doesn't seem like it should be possible, so I wasn't questioning it just because I haven't had issues with it potentially just due to luck, if the coating is as the manufacturers claim it doesn't like it should be physically possible for cardboard to scratch it (perhaps it's not what they claim or it behaves differently if attacked from some particular angle or something? EDIT: or see below, maybe it's fingerprints causing a lot of the trouble, they tend to get more when sliding out of slip cardboard)

Are 4k disc player lenses fussier with minor surface damage than Blu Ray discs?
I do find that UHD does tend to be way more sensitive than blu-ray, not sure the coating on them works as well as the blu-ray coating either, I think they had to make it thinner due to technical reasons of laser penetration and higher density. Blu-rays have generally seemed pretty bulletproof to me compared to DVD and seem a lot less touchy than UHD (with UHD often it seems to hidden layer of case grease, since hard scrubbing with microfiber cloth often brings a troublesome new UHD into perfect playing shape, I also notice that sometimes even just the tiniest, bitty hint of a fingerprint can through off a UHD while that tends to be no problem for a blu-ray, once again microfiber cloth solves that, speaking of which, maybe some of the cardboard case problems people have are because they tend to get fingerprints on the discs a lot more trying to slide them out, I do find those fingerprints often need to be totally scrubbed off with microfiber cloth, even ones ultra faint and barely even visible).

Some of it could be my player, but I have discs that skip in the same place whether I watch them on my player or my PS4. My wife bought Coco brand new and it's never played right in a certain spot. My mom borrowed my Alien anthology blu ray, it played fine before, but she must have scratched a disc or something because now Aliens skips in the same place no matter what player I watch it on. Same with my Jaws blu.
the coating is to protect it from physical harm, it's not something that prevents fingerprints, you gotta wipe those off the surface with a microfiber cloth (UHD tends to really hate them, blu-ray tolerates them better is my experience)

That Target price is great, I combined it with the Hitchcock 4K set for the 50% off deal and the total for both came out to $94.

I just happen to check BB 3 minutes ago or so and it was available. Now it’s already out of stock.

I already got one the other day but was curious. Just keep checking throughout the day. Seems to come and go! Good luck

It will be back but if you wanted it why didn’t you pre-order it? payment won’t be taken until despatch after all.

Its a craps shoot, if people have time to check all day everyday for a while then ya the odds are they will secure one, buts its alot of work and time commitment. If you are not willing to do that its going to be tough to secure one unless you get lucky. They only open up preorders 1 at a time for cancelations.

It’s been 20 minutes since the BB steelbook came and went.

Got my pre-order in on the BB steelbook since the sleeve arrangement and the hideous cover art on the regular edition is a non starter with me (thanks, Universal!). Received an extra My Rewards 10% off. At least that took care of the taxes.

Hopefully, it drops a little bit in price, but given it's a limited steelbook for a beloved franchise trilogy, I doubt it will move more than $10 if that.

I hope you don't get scratched discs. At least with the steelbook the discs aren't in those sleeve pouches that come in contact with the disc surface and they aren't stacked either.

By some miracle of chance my BB steelbook order actually processed.

As many frivolous disc purchases that I've made in my miserable life, the Blu-Ray gods owed me some good fortune dammit!
