Glad i didn't sleep on it and got my Best Buy pre-order in yesterday. That one went quick and i'm sure the scalpers jumped on that one immediately.

I aint having no part of that Digibook packaging uh-uh mister.

The Mummy 4k pack was the last straw for me. Only disc that played properly in my set is that wretched Dragon Tumor Empire 3rd movie.

I almost quit life over that fiasco.

Ordered the regular set from Target, paired with the Hitchcock 4K collection with the BOGO 50% off and $5 off $25 coupon, for about $80 shipped. Less after selling the digital codes later. I can forgive the botched Marty face for that type of deal.

Oh, and those remastered discs are going in my 25th Anniversary BD digipak until Universal can get their act together for the 40th, with hopefully better packaging/artwork. If they release them individually before then, even better.

Tough few days for this BTTF fan, as I've looked forward to this announcement/reveal for this whole year. Can't believe this was the best they could come up with for one of the studio's all-time great achievements.

The Hitchcock set packaging is no better, but just like BTTF, I can easily slide the new discs into the old Hitchcock Essentials Collection digipak, plus I'll have North by Northwest on BD waiting directly next to them for an UHD upgrade.

A movie collector shouldn't have to do all these things, but here we are.

I don't regret seeing it, it's just average. Scorpion King on the other hand is just straight trash.

Not to veer too far off all things BTTF ...buuuutt I could live with that assessment IF the 1st 2 films in the series were playable for me and not hairline scratched to hell n' back.

1st Mummy kinda takes the sting outta the disappointment of the sequels.

I have the Bond, Star Wars & Alien Quadrilogy Blu sets all in book packaging & those are strangely okay. No surface damage that I can detect.

Flash forward to Jurassic Park & Mummy 4k sets & those have incurred very fine surface scrapes that I cant buff out. they skip & stutter through playback.

Are 4k disc player lenses fussier with minor surface damage than Blu Ray discs?

I'm glad they included the Back to the Future The Ride videos on the 4K disc of part 3 but I doubt they have remastered it for 4K. It sucks that the ride is no more. I really wished they kept and updated the ride at Universal Studios Hollywood instead of replacing it with that Simpsons nonsense (sorry to the Simpsons fans out there).

I own the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray trilogy. All of the digital codes were redeemed directly in iTunes. They will be upgraded to 4K Dolby Vision/Dolby ATMOS for free. That may turn out to be enough for me.

I wonder that too. I have had no issues with BD’s in cardboard sleeves (the Bond collection or Deadwood CS), so I was happy to pick up The Big Bang Theory BD digibook (DVD sets like The Simpsons are a different story. The glue failed on one set and marked up the discs, big time).

I bought all the Star Wars UHD’s separately, but avoided the Skywalker set for fear of damage.

Is the coating on a UHD not as good or is it the laser?

Back on topic: Fingers crossed the UHD set will get an Aussie release. I love the films, but importing is frequently frustrating (and sometimes near impossible to source), in COVID-19 times.

Isn't this when he first found out he had Parkinson's? Because of the double-duty filming Family Ties and BTTF?
