I wouldn't expect 4K versions, at least on disc, until the 35th anniversary of the original, which would be 2020.

That isn't to say that Universal couldn't have created new 4k restorations in the meantime. But... this is Universal we're talking about. John Carpenter's The Thing is being re-released by Shout! and it's only sporting a new 2k scan. ![]() |

All three parts on BD looks OK, they arnt perfect but I've seen much worse transfers. Picture has this overprocessed look because of excessive edge enchancement and new release could improve picture quality. First BTTF on HDTV looks better IMO (without these picture manipulations), but for UHD format they would had to make new master anyway.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has absolutely no interest in doing a 4K transfer or higher scan of any of the BTTF films. I can tell you this with definitive knowledge and confirmation from people heavily involved with the BTTF franchise.

So, it would be up to Spielberg, Gale, and Zemeckis to get a 4k restoration created? Is that the short and the tall of it? If this is true, then Comcast really is shit. |

I mean, come on, The Breakfast Club got a 4K restoration. Why not Back to the Future? |
