I can partly understand the opinion of some people not liking Part 3 because it's a western, but i also dont understand at all. Haha. What i mean is, is that i'm not a massive fan of westerns either, but at the end of the day, it's a Back to the Future movie, how much of a western can it be? Lol. Not much! Or it could be described as a Back to the Future movie just dressed up as a western, it's only mostly surface, underneath it's Back to the Future.

I was seeing a girl a few years ago and she likes the first 2 films, but had never seen Part 3 and had the opinion of not wanting to see it because of not liking westerns, so i got her to watch it with me for the first time, not only did i give her those examples of what iv said above, but i also said to her she's in a unique situation, that she's got the opportunity in the present day of being able to see a Back to the Future movie for the first time.

The other two things that is abit odd with someone not wanting to see it, (and i also said this to her) is if you loved the first 2 films, why would you not want to watch another Back ToThe Future film, and secondly not wanna know how the story ends, or how it maybe connects to the other films. Surely all those thoughts and curiosities should override the fact you dont like westerns.

That's part of the reason why I didn't like Back to the Future III is because,of its western atmosphere and overtones. I've never cared for western movies. I watched Unforgiven after hearing all of the rave reviews about, and I didn't like Unforgiven either.

You need to visit the Star Wars, Criterion, and Shout threads. Consider yourself warned.

I feel the tone of III is much too slapstick and saccharine compared to the previous movies. The opening and ending scene in the 20th century are fine though.

American culture is a very city based now. So not many will like westerns.

Well if you dont like westerns, it's probably kind of a given you wasnt gonna like Unforgiven.

Each to their own, if someone doesn't like Back to The Future Part 3 because they cant get past that it's dressed up as a western, then fair enough i suppose.

But that's why i'm able to get past it being a western because it's a Back To The Future film underneath. All of the other things that make it a Back To The Future film, it's known characters, tone, story, the journey iv been on with them so far etc are gonna override that.

If i was to replace the thought with another trilogy of films, and it's third part being dressed up as a genre i didnt like then made me want to avoid watching it, it's feasible to think that maybe it's because i didnt like the whole franchise enough in the first place.

What as apposed to 1990 when we was only living in tumbleweed plains, and our only mode of transport was steam trains & horses.

????

Traditional westerns weren’t very popular in 1990 either.

Most things rural and such are mostly disliked now.

Hell, could you imagine a John Wayne being popular today? With many people under 50?

Well you said "now", which i took to mean 2019! I didnt assume you was also including 30 years ago in the context of now.

(Even tho you have asked for clarification of what i meant im sure you can comprehend why i responded in the jokey way i did, or i would hope so)

But the last time we see Biff he's just as jerky and a bully and covered in manure.

Then by 2015 he's back to being his insufferable self as Gramps Biff.
Or after he steals the Delorean and goes back to 1955 to give himself the almanac, then returns to 2015 on the same timeline. Wouldn't he return to a new alternate timeline just like Marty and Doc did in 1985?? Of course that would completely F up the movie

Part II is really just as good as I, might even surpass it at times but it's so close. Part III is behind but it's still delightful. Embarrassment of riches really.

As for Part III, I think it’s a marvellous western. Flipping the doc and Marty roles around completely, with a kind of melancholy to it all which I’ve always found moving. Plus, that final act is just as exciting as the finale to the first film.

I’ll never forget seeing Part III in the states before it came out in the U.K. I returned and all my mates begged me to tell them how on earth Marty could have gotten to 1885 without the car. Boy did I milk it for all it was worth. Such good times.

Adore this trilogy. Means as much to me as Star Wars and Indy.
HUH? Marty had the car when he went to 1885. Am I missing something?

We didn't know that though before watching the movie. All we knew then was that Doc was zapped off in it at the end of II

Doc had given Marty and 1955 Doc a note on how to repair the DeLorean so it wasn't zapped off. I'm really confused now. WOW! Either I haven't seen those movies in a while of my memory's gone to he--. I'm thinking it's a combo of both.

Marty gets the letter but we don't know details about it. We find that out at the beginning of III. Doc passes out when he sees Marty again and that's the end of II
