I don't think it does, it sends the correct data per the disc but the TV goes into DV mode once you turn it on at the player

Yes!! Just recently announced, here's the thread. Fingers crossed it looks as good as the BttF set.

Not denying there's a color issue, but it looks mild enough to me that they won't comment or replace. Could be wrong. Is it in the digital stream?

I'm one of those people stuck in Target limbo. Ordered back in the summer during a sale, and it hasn't shipped. Talked to a rep via chat this morning who said it should ship soon, but I don't know. What happens if you cancel an item that's part of a "buy one, get one 50%" deal? My other part of the order--which got the discount--already shipped. Do they try to make up the difference so you end up paying full price for the other item?

While watching the first one last night I kept thinking about how worthless any review is. I don’t mean that to be offensive to anyone but I was expecting something entirely different. Especially after reading so many thoughts from members on this sites opinions I value.

Spare Changes review of this is so different from mine I actually think he has no idea what he’s saying. His gear is superb though lol.

That other one Doblu? What a joke. I would rate this release high in the color upgrade department.

The only thing I can really agree with the consensus is the image is noticeably darker but I view this as a big leap forward especially combined with the extra resolution. It created a grittier look which made me appreciate the movie even more. It felt like never seen the movie before, that’s how different the UHD looks. This is why a high contrast display is so crucial. I will be using the mall scenes to showcase my panels contrast performance and HDR.

I’m not saying this is a perfect release, it’s not. It has DNR, I suspect they rolled off low frequencies but I haven’t taken the time to confirm.

If the TV enters DV mode it is incorrect for normal HDR10 (even if there is very little difference between them). DV should be off for everything but DV content. If it sent the correct data as per the disc, why do normal BD's look crap with DV set to on?

Well yeah I agree but I'm just saying I think the player is sending the right signal but the TV automatically goes into DV if it's turned on at the player.

The reason a bluray would look wrong cause the TV is in DV mode with completely diff settings compared to SDR

I dug it, I always do. I found the “soft” spot you mentioned and agreed. But honestly I was enjoying the colors so much it didn’t bother me as much as I expected.

Right, which is why I said it's only a few minutes out of nearly two hours of a presentation that otherwise looks so delicious for colour and HDR I hadn't enjoyed it that much in years. As soon as I'd wrapped up the trilogy I just wanted to watch BTTF again.

For some reason these pictures I just took don't do it justice much, but when I'm watching the film it's brighter and better in HDR mode rather than Dolby Vision mode. I guess I'll just wait and see if the next gen consoles do DV more justice than my Sony X800m2 on my LG C9.

WHERE IS MY DANG ORDER?

No one answered me. I'm going to start throwing Flux Capacitors around if I don't get acknowledged.

That will be worth it.
It's worth it at the price it is now. Unless you want studios to stop putting out content on 4K UHD. You one of the streamers?

As far as the product goes, I had no problem getting it. I had a dental appointment yesterday and was able to pick a copy at the Target near my dentist office. Better than a pre-order. Unless it's a pre-order from my local record shop. They get their stuff in on time.

Isn't the default brightness (backlight) settings for HDR, 100 and 50 with Dolby Vision with the LG? maybe that's the reason. The Cinema Home preset might bump it up a bit.

Yeah I wonder how many people that complain about DV realize it has diff settings on the display? Mine looks nearly identical I use a little diff settings compared to HDR10 like max contrast but still close.

I'm thinking about watching this while eating lunch in about 30 minutes. However, I am at a quandary over two issues:

1. I'm pretty sure I am going to fall asleep if I try to watch any movie. So I'm not sure I want to start this.
2. I kind of want to start with Back to the Future II since I just saw Back to the Future in theaters about two months ago. It's still fresh on my mind. What should I do?

First world problems. Actually, my first world problems today are a MAJOR case of depression and fighting the urge to give up and go to bed.

Go slow. Prepare a healthy meal. Watch BTTF 2.
