Doesn’t Shout release 4K discs, too?

They did a couple IMAX docs early on, but that's it. No movie movies. Also, I would not trust Shout with a UHD transfer.

Only 4K Restoration for most movies only 4K were for IMAX stuff not sure why Shout Factory has not gotten into the 4K UHD HDR/HDR10/Dolby Vision game other than the licensing issue with studios who probably want to release their own version of 4K. I doubt it will be cheap to release movies in 4K for Shout probably will cost more for people to purchase.

The big studios apparently aren’t eager to license their films out for UHDs at this time. Lack of region lock is probably a big factor.

Still don't get the whole region lock thing other than studios just being greedy limiting people's option of different versions of release thank god this was never the situation when it came to Imported music CDs. If studios really want customers to get Blu-Rays from the region they live in than they should release a official version of that Blu-Ray with everything included but I know that will never happen because they love making people double dip for the same movie.

Studios sure got excited when DVDs came along where they could make double dipping unlike when it was VHS.

Note there is zero evidence of this, it's just you guessing. Labels don't just jump right into new formats. There's nothing weird about them not doing so yet.

Note to self:

Don't buy anything from Lionsgate on blu-ray. It'll be released in 4k before you know it.

I would've thought the Saw movies would be on 4K now since that is Lionsgate's true franchise.

Tell that to the 4K restoration of Saw that's still sitting in the Lionsgate vaults

Meanwhile, with the positive early buzz for the first film's 4K release, the 35mm-based ED2 should be even better... and just in time for Christmas

Gotta go through some ridiculous trap to release it, I suppose.

Sony is about to release the unrated cut on BD, so I suspect they'll wait until after that one runs its course.
