What I like about this movie, is that it's ridiculous and over the top, but not in a "self aware", meta fest, forced one liners, way. it's like an 80's action movie, but made in 2008, period. not a homage to 80's movies, if that makes sense

Absolutely, and I agree 110% with you.

It would be much better IMO had this been the trend in Hollywood instead of the "humor" we have in movies nowadays.

It did remind me some of that when it came to the mob but what people enjoyed the movie was all the action and violent scenes were pretty much were from Marvel Knight comic book but you can not deny the scene where one of Parkour guys is blown by Punisher's missile was hilarious.



But the plot it was just too silly, lets see how the Jigsaw story works with The Punisher series how seriously are they going to take it compared to the War Zone and in the Netflix series will he be part of the Italian Mob because this Billy is different.

yeah I found that Parkour kill funny as well, the movie actually had a few funny bits, but they weren't forced imo

Originally they were writing a sequel to the Jane film, but after he dropped out over creative differences, they rewrote it as an original take instead of a sequel.

Although the campy silliness in this one would have been a great opportunity to bring the Russian back with a boob job, had it been a sequel

I think it's pretty over the top on purpose... whether that rises to "self aware" or not could be debated I guess. I love it too though, and have it pre-ordered. I think it's a shame people took it way too seriously.

Agreed. Love them both though. Season two of Daredevil is also great. I think they dropped the ball with The Punisher's own Netflix series though. Can't wait to see this one in 4K.
