So my store will most likely have it now, $45 is insane. I paid $22 taxes included.

1) Unless you want glasses-free 3D I doubt this will ever look better.

2) If it did somehow look significantly better that's a great thing, not an eye-roll.

Yes, they are limited, only available from Mondo and Alamo Drafthouse, and the popular genre slash franchises (Star Wars, CBM, Alien) typically sell out. The Halloween issue offers a good read for Carpenter slash Halloween fans:

Quote:
Featuring a gorgeous Mondo cover by artist Phantom City Creative, interior art by renowned designer Denton Watts, a stunning spread featuring some of Mondo’s greatest HALLOWEEN posters, and a series of exclusive interviews with HALLOWEEN (2018)’s creative team (including Green, Jamie Lee Curtis, and John Carpenter), this edition of the BMD magazine is a must-have for HALLOWEEN megafans.

Articles include:
  • Exclusive interviews with HALLOWEEN directors John Carpenter and David Gordon Green
  • An exclusive interview with HALLOWEEN’s reigning scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis
  • An investigation into the HALLOWEEN Atari game
  • Character essays on Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis
  • A deep-dive into the many (MANY) rip-offs that followed in the wake of HALLOWEEN’s success
  • A look at the cinematography of the legendary Dean Cundy
  • A giant spread showcasing some of Mondo’s greatest HALLOWEEN posters
This latest cover for Halloween is well-done, but my favorite...

Nope, no poster here; just the issue and the Mondo sticker.

I am not using the most up to date set up out there, but it's ok (TV: LG UH8500 & 4K Player : Sony UBP-X800) and i thought "Halloween" looked really nice on it. Overall, i am pretty happy with this release.

The Birth. Movies. Death. magazines look really neat, but I don't tend to like their writing or politics much, so I feel like I wouldn't like the actual magazine content.

I'm not familiar with the company who produces these. Would you care to elaborate?

If you don't want to open a can of worms publicly, that's cool. I am just genuinely curious.

Given Mondo/BMD hail from Austin, TX, a unique spot dedicated to keeping it weird, I've always considered their worldview more libertarian than liberal, but do agree they, along with Alamo Drafthouse, attract a young and hip demographic, with political sensibilities to match.

The Halloween issue is great and the water's fine, if a little bit weird.

So if I only have the 2007 release, is the general consensus that the 4K is a huge step up from that?

They're pretty far Left, but that's not really my issue. My issue is more how insanely partisan they are. Everything Left is amazing, everything Right is evil. As an independent centrist that kind of blind tribal loyalty crap just drives me up the wall. They also insert it into damn near every article I have read there, no matter how apolitical the movie is.

As far as iamge detail, yes. Anything else depends on which color timing you prefer. The 2007 looks extremely different in that aspect. Some people prefer the look of the 2007.

If you're ever curios to know if a release came with a slipcover on the early pressings (and don't want to ask in a thread), you can look at the official BD.com page for that particular release, and it will tell you the answer.

Not that I have an issue with anyone asking, just passing on a tip that I find useful.
