Would be some bullshit if they released a complete & final Blu Ray boxset this year but not a 4K equivalent.

I guess, but since I already own them all I'm not in some huge rush. Maybe I'm weird.

I sold all of my GoT discs after season five because I worked out that it would cost me less to sell what I had and then buy a complete boxset rather than just buy the remaining three releases on Blu Ray upon release, so I haven't re-watched anything since season five.

I was quite happy to wait for a complete boxset after season eight to do a complete re-watch but was expecting to be able do so within about six months of season eight ending. Now I'm into my 4K discs, I'm hoping I don't have to wait too much longer than that to be able to do my complete re-watch on 4K UHD.

To be clear, I won't be annoyed if they just release Season Eight on Blu and then your standard 1-8 boxset, piece of thin cardboard around your amarays type deal with no 4K equivalent. I will be annoyed though (admittedly not particularly annoyed) if they release some ultimate, final, there's-never-going-to-be-anything-better-or-more-complete boxset on Blu only, only for them to release a 4K boxset 12 months later... because that's just shitty.

They might release season 8 for bluray and 4k seperately or just bluray and then later the 4k before the rest of the seasons. Everybody that already has the seasons on bluray are not going to rebuy all the seasons again.

Wrong. Lots of us would buy them again in a heartbeat.

That said, the way I see it is Season 8 will be released on both 4K and Blu-ray when it comes out on video along with a complete series set on both formats on the same date. I'm 99.999% positive of this happening.

Individuals might come later or not at all.

I'd buy a 4K complete series set even having all the blus no questions asked, the show is amazing. But I wont buy individual 4k seasons again, I'll give you that.

Edit: I mean heck, how many times have myself and others rebought things like Harry Potter or Star Wars? Same thing really. And this is just a double dip instead of a lot more times like those.

FWIW there is a reasonably sized market for a complete series UHD set in those of us new to the show (who were way too young when it began). It's reputation as such a bingeable show has myself and many I know ready to pull the trigger on a 4k set asap.
That combined with die hard fans is surely enough to get us a 4k set coinciding with any S08 singles

I'm Spanish 45 y/o disabled person with a mean pension of 575 Euros a month, needless to say I live with my parents or I'd be a homeless. If Game Of Thrones is released on UHD BD I'd buy it without even thinking about the consequences.
I want this, badly.

It will probably be the same thing they did with The Sopranos on Bluray. The 1st and last seasons will be available separately then they will make everyone wait for a complete series set and not release the other seasons individually.

No way I'm getting the first season of Game of Thrones 4K, I'm worried that HBO will pull the same BS the did with Soprano's and not put all the separate seasons out.

Except the fact that you're not buying S1 is the reason it may never happen!

There are links up today on Amazon for Seasons 1 - 7 on BD all with a
26th or 31st March release date and a price of $60-75. Here is the link for Season 2. Prices looks too high for BD sets, so are HBO dropping them all at once 2 weeks before the last season I wonder?

They’re just BD re-releases with Robert Ball art.

Unfortunately...yes. They ARE just Blu-ray re-releases.

Sigh. I'm still waiting for the rest of the series to come out on 4K but like I mentioned before, we're most likely gonna get Season 8 on 4K when it comes out on video as well as a Complete Series set on both formats.

I'd be ok with that. I would buy the set in a heartbeat.

Even if they did release all other seasons on 4K, it's almost certainly going to cost more buying them individually than buying a 4K complete series boxset.

Chances are they will be releasing S8 on 4K later this year. Anyone purchasing that should expect the possibility they will be buying a complete boxset in the future.

I don't mind double dipping for this show, as long as the season is strong. Season 7 was mostly quite weak and felt like fan service. If season 8 is the same, I'll wait for a boxset before buying anything.

What are the other double listings that say deep discount? Same as the Robert Ball Art?
