Is it an epic? Yes, certainly and without doubt. I believe the term "historical" implies non-fictional however.
By historical, I implied the time period in which the film was set

To be specific, it's a period-set epic based on ancient scripture which many believe to be an accounting of historical events.

Regardless of personal belief there's irrefutable (IE mummified) proof that at least some of the Egyptian characters in the story actually existed, which is kinda cool.

And someone got offended by me mentioning the biblical epic genre???

It’s been awhile since I’ve watched this. Damn, it’s so great. You hardly feel like you’ve been sitting there two hours, let alone nearly four!

While I received it on the day of release I hadn’t gotten the chance to watch it until last night. Overall it’s a fantastic presentation and all of the real shots look better than ever. What sadly falls apart at such high resolution is the majority of the backgrounds. These can range from a minor distraction at best to almost completely breaking the immersion at worst.

However, it shows you just how ambitious a picture it was at the time. It is a shame that it couldn’t have been made just a decade later with lots of on location shooting. This is what makes Lawrence of Arabia so special and why it holds up so well in 4K even compared to modern period epics.

It’s also interesting to notice the different style of acting which resembles a Broadway play more than the realism that modern films go for.

Not even a Broadway play. More like a 1930's or 1940's style of over acting.

I mentioned that a few pages back, the caps showed a better combination of foreground and vfx on the blu than the 4k on some shots.

You're just not used to seeing real acting, when actors and actresses who've went to the school of performing arts to learn and master their skill, that really know how to act. When actors and actresses won Academy Awards in that era they've earn it, and they didn't have to take off their clothes and get butt naked, do explicit sex scenes and use excessive profanity like you see and hear in these so-called movies of today. Without CGI there wouldn't be any movie!

Not only that, but when modern-day actors try to perform in a 1930s-1940s period style film, they fail miserably to catch the true spirit of the times. They use slang and jargon used today in Hollywood that was non-existent back then and it sounds ridiculous

Also, funny story: I made a pre-order for this item from DeepDiscount before they made it clear discount codes don't apply to pre-orders. I even accidentally ordered two copies of it. Then both were cancelled without a reason, and after two emails where they told me the relevant department needed to look at it, my third chaser went ignored.
Then a couple of weeks ago out of the blue I got a shipping notification, and today it's in my hands. Still need to check what price was honored. But yeah, not the best service.
My copy of TTC 4K with DeepDiscount arrived on April 3rd. I noticed that DD didn't offer preorder item discounts on their latest 15% off site wide promotional offers. I haven't seen these (in stock only) discount offer restrictions with DD until recently.

Same on my Oppo. Weird.

So, I checked what they did with my copy: the order number quoted in my shipping notification does not exist in my Order History, however it matches the number quoted in the initial order creation notification, when I placed the order myself. How's that for nasty! Cancelled trace of my initial order. Which is bad, I won't be able to rely on my order history page anymore.

On the plus side, they charged me less for this copy that they eventually shipped me than how I was initially charged.
Was I refunded, rebated, anything, I don't know, I can't check now, my credit card bill is as long as the phone book sometimes, especially when DD makes promo codes!
But I'm happy I finally got it.

Not just the acting, but also the writing. It becomes borderline poetic by the cadence it's delivered in by all of the great actors in this film.

The Ten Commandments is a true epic masterpiece in every way.

It should be on the AFI TOP 100 List. It did make their Top Ten Epic Films.
