Amazon in the US is about the same. They just put Blu-Rays/DVD's... in a box with no packing and there's always something broken. It's amazing they are still in business.

Ever think maybe they're an astronomical success story because not everyone shares your experience?

I've been ordering Blu-rays from Amazon for a long time and I received a broken case only once and they sent me a new copy for free. I'll take my chances with them.

Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it. Guess I should now say the TV cut has never been released "on purpose" in America. Lol

I know I'm not alone in despising Amazon and Jeff Bezos. I can count on one hand all the times I've ordered blu ray sets or collector's editions from them and the item arrives in pristine condition. Usually, it's either mangled, or the item is destroyed because they packed it in a giant box with no padding.

I don't feel bad in saying if the choice is between giving Bezos my money, or spending a few extra bucks by ordering from a small company like DiabolikDVD, or Bull Moose, who I know will pack an item with care and are trying to survive the physical media market, I'll choose to support the smaller company every time and twice on Sundays. Without hesitation.

I don't fault the people using Amazon though. I get it. Money is tight, it's quick, it's easy, shipping is free with Prime. I did it for a long time, until I couldn't take it anymore.

Anyhoo, I'm thrilled these are coming to UHD from Scream. I'm excited to get these sets in my hand and check em out. II and III should look great.

I've never had a problem with blu rays I've ordered from Amazon (which I do, very occasionally, for a title I can't seem to find anywhere else, which seems to be Warner Archives titles, these days). But I will say that my many orders from DiabolikDVD are always mailed with better, more protective packaging than my Amazon orders (bubble wrapping around a sturdy cardboard sleeve, etc.). I've never had a problem with a DiabolikDVD order, in any aspect.

Unfortunately us UK Halloween fans don't have those options its either Amazon or miss out AGAIN. They'll never release Halloween in a boxset or anything other than DVD format in the UK so we have to import from Amazon. (But you can best believe I'll be sending them back if they come damaged. I didn't pay extra for priority shipping for them to come damaged)

I think it’s more that only one in a hundred or so have anal completist standards. Amazon has found success offering a lowest common denominator experience to a vast lowest common denominator public. We live in an age now that ranks convenience well over quality. I feel crowe-t’s pain because, as a consumer type, we used to not be the meager minority we are today.

Just put my preorder in for all 5 Halloween releases on Amazon.ca. Hoping the price will drop just a bit lower before they are released ($29.99 CDN would be amazing) but $33.47 is better than $39.99.

I didn’t know the Halloween home video releases are that few in the UK. I remember in the late 90s I was envious of UK because they got Halloween 5 on DVD and in the states it didn’t come out until August 2000 from Anchor Bay.

Yeah it’s terrible, we only have Halloween 1978 and Halloween 2018 on 4K/Blu-ray here, all the rest are DVD, We’ve never even had a Blu-ray release of any of the others and probably never will

I mean, I care about the quality of the transfer and disc. I don't really care if there's an extremely small crush on the corner of the slipcover I put in the closet. That's not really "lowest common denominator only care about convenience," those people are watching streaming versions. It's just not being anal about packaging.

Ever think maybe a lot of people on this forum piss and moan about Amazon because not everyone shares your fortunate “extremely small crush on the corner of a slipcover” experience?

There's been a blu-ray release of Halloween IV and V, that's it. I think they're OOP now. It's been pretty poor. Any idea why?

The rights issue surrounding H20 is convoluted now too.

Sure, but I'm trying to tell them they're an extremely small minority Amazon doesn't give a shit about. If they lost money overall due to returns because of their packaging, they'd switch packaging. They don't, so they don't.

If you care about such things buy from places like Diabolik and quit expecting Amazon to cater to you specifically.

Really? I did not know this, I've never seen anything other than Halloween 1 and the most recent on Blu-ray/4K. I remember a few years ago even Halloween II (1981) was discontinued in the UK, couldn’t find it anywhere and ultimately had to import the DVD from the US and when it came it didn't work on UK DVD players as it was region 1. I’ve only just became old enough to become serious about collecting so I’ve missed out on pretty much every edition of Halloween, luckily now I understand region codes and importing.

I don't know the UK situation but the rights for the Halloween series are all over the place. That's why people called the complete Scream set a miracle at the time.
