Halloween 4K UHD (1978)

Hey does anyone know if Shout will send me replacement disks if I purchased from Walmart? Both my II and III 4k disks have scratches.

You can try, I asked about replacing my 4k disc of 2 but they said I had to go through target for a replacement which doesn’t help me 🙃

Best Buy has them for $10 cheaper? I paid $37 for it at SF and mine still just says “order taken”.

These new Shout boxes fit in the DVD sized collector cases. They will not fit in the Blu Ray sized ones, they are too tall by about just a centimeter!

I just watched Halloween with the LD mono. Of course it sounded good but it wasn’t like I was constantly thinking about how much better it sounds than the filtered mono. The only thing I was more aware of was being able to hear some of the distant dialogue better than in the filtered. For instance, when Judith and her boyfriend are talking it’s very clear what they’re saying whereas in the filtered mono it’s slightly harder to hear them if I remember correctly. One could argue that their dialogue isn’t that important so it doesn’t really matter how well you can hear them.

Obviously when you compare the two tracks side by side the differences are noticeable, but I think you get used to whichever track you’re listening to and aren’t really thinking about how much better or worse one is over the other. The filtered mono is good enough in my opinion.

By the way, the only speakers I use are my TV’s built-in speakers. ()

I can agree with this. But I like that the ld mono has more oomph to the music. Like when Micheal is busting through the kitchen door and Laurie is struggling and he gets through, the music has more oomph when it’s starts to really kick in. Helps with the anxiety feeling to that scene. I’m happy with this release.

I wish I knew how to author mkv files so I can add this as an audio option to choose from along with the other offerings.

Finally gave in and ordered 1, 2 and 3 via Amazon--I can live without 4 and 5. I've never been a mega Halloween fan but I always enjoy them around this time of year (shocking!). Curious to see when these actually arrive as all three of them seem to be all over the map in terms of what Amazon has in stock. I'll be honest, I did not realize there would be such a demand for these. Kind of cool to see physical media still thriving.

I watched some clips from all 5 movies and they look amazing. Shout did an awesome job on these new transfers. H1 & H2 are much closer looking than ever. Now they can be watched back to back and not look completely different.

I also like the new ATMOS tracks. They make good use of the height speakers. These are my new go to discs for H1 - H5.

Is it just me or is anyone else having issues finding all these Halloween 4K movies to buy I mean like no one has any of them In stock except deepdiscount which only has Halloween 2 4K in stock that’s it. What is the deal with none of these movies not being In stock?

Amazon got me three on release day and the other two coming today. Not too bad really. Smaller stores probably got less stock.

It's all about the dynamic range on better equipment. I've had brick-walled CDs that I "got used to" so I definitely agree, but, you're still listening to bad sound that you either have to crank to hear, or keep low as to not hear the defects (or ruin your hearing from the loudness). I think I'm gonna be a fan of the new Atmos, it just sounds more natural to me. BTW you are using your TV speakers?? Then I have to say it probably doesn't matter if you're listening to the soundtrack on cassette tape!
