I just bought Halloween 2 to 5 along with the box set from Shout and all of them had the chip box.

I know that Halloween 2 is objectively not a very good movie, but I think that I watched it at a certain young age so many times on early cable TV that my nostalgia filter just kicks in and I end up liking it more than a reasonable person would.

That's why most of us own half the movies we own my man.

Guess I got lucky with these discs, none of them had fingerprints or scratches aside from a cracked DVD. Cases had those suction cup prints though, easily wiped off.

Was there any known disk issues/replacement program for the Scream Factory Halloween 1 UHD? I just picked it up over the weekend and found an older pressing with the slip box but forgot to see if the older pressings had any issues.

Not unless the discs are scratched.

I ordered all of them during the last Shout Factory sale and I bit my nails off to where my fingers where bloody stumps in anticipation of getting scratched discs. Luckily they were all fine even though I had some floaters.

Finally checked out this release on my system, best the movie will ever look on home video no doubt.

The UHD is nice, but I'm actually preferring the color and inky blacks of the "Original Color Timing Presentation."

Is this supposed to mimic the Anchor Bay disc?

Yep. The original colour timing presentation is the transfer that was used for Anchor Bay's 25th anniversary DVD in 2003.

Is it really the "same" or just using the colors from that version cause it certainly looks a lot healthier than the old discs.

It is literally the exact same master that was also used for the 2007 BD, it looks noticeably worse than the remastered BD and the 35th anniversary master before it

I still don't understand why they even bothered including it

I remember the actual Anchor Bay Blu being very orange. I'll need to check out the included Blu-Ray with the new scan.

It is indeed the same transfer. Actually it’s in slightly worse quality than the 2007 disc.

Due to the fact it also includes the extended and TV cuts all on the same disk crammed together

It's the exact same transfer. Anchor Bay did their HD masters of 1/4/5 in 2003 (which were the ones that they put out on Blu-Ray). It looks worse on the Scream disc because it has a lower file size this go-around. If you really wanna see it at its peak, the original Blu-Ray or the Lionsgate UHD would be your best bet.

The 2013 scan (and the subsequent ones that have been based off that colour timing) was very polarizing when it came out, so I think they've just decided to hold onto it for people who still prefer it.

I haven't watched the 2007 release since the 35th Ann. Ever since the boxset came out I've typically watched the Extended Edition when doing a marathon cause I like the added bits with Loomis.

Quite possibly sitting 8 feet away from my TV makes it hard to make out lost detail.

The 2007 was always my go to up until the SF 4K came out. The THX DVD had really good colors but I couldn't justify the resolution drop (call me petty), the 2013 looked a bit too de-saturated for my tastes and the Lionsgate 4K exemplified that. The only true compromises for the SF 4K are compression and the transfer of the mono mix being a bit lackluster. For the compression, it's not terrible, if you're a John Carpenter fan, the SC releases of his films are far worse in the compression department. As for the mono mix, it would've been nice for a cleaner transfer of the mix to have been added, especially with all the mixes H4 and H5 had received, however, it's nice that 1) it isn't a fold-down, like the Lionsgate release and, 2) if it's that much of a problem, it's not too hard to try and sync rips of the mono mix on the Criterion laserdisc to this transfer.

Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but that transfer was always my favourite. Growing up in the midwest, the orangey days and the blue night seemed natural to me.
