My buddy and I went to see IDIOCRACY on opening night. I love Mike Judge, but not his best stuff, and we were practically the only people in the theater. And that movie is real short, barely 80 minutes, so it's over super fast and we're really let down and don't know what the hell to do with the rest of our Friday night. So we grab some drinks at the theater's bar, grousing about how OFFICE SPACE was so much better -- and start to get really lit, and then notice that in 5 minutes another movie is about to start called CRANK. We have no idea at all what CRANK is about -- we just know that we felt cheated by IDIOCRACY so we say the hell with it, do a couple of shots, and go buy tickets for CRANK. The theater was packed, and it turned out to be the perfect movie to watch with a crowd when you've been drinking heavily. I still drink, so I guess I'll be buying CRANK on 4K.

Sometimes that stick is there for a reason; to prevent a supervolcanic eruption!
Wait, uhhh...
Maybe that "something" which changed is the human spirit being broken?

Haha ok, I'm done. I have more, but I just dropped the mic, and the stick is preventing me from being able to reach down.

As for CRANK... I went to see it just because my friend and I had nothing else to watch that week in the theaters. About 5 minutes in and I was like "Oh man, it's one of those movies. I am going to hate this mess."
Ten minutes later and I'm laughing like a loon. I walked out going "Holy crap that was awesome! I can't believe a quick-cut, shaky-cam, stupid action movie actually worked for me!"
It was a huge sigh of relief, not only mentally and emotionally, but also spiritually and lung capacity-ally.

What are you looking at to make that judgment?

I love this crazy movie haha! At $14.99 (Best Buy) I’m willing to gamble.

The movie itself, or the actual video quality of the release?

lets not forget this movie was filmed with lots of different sources. so its not going to look amazing all the time given they used a lot of different cameras capable of different resolutions.

It looks like a subpar film scan to me, which is weird, because the movie was shot digitally. Maybe it's ugly because of severe post-processing? I don't remember what the movie looked like on BD.

Remember the blu-ray as super super sharp so will be interesting to see how this compares. The Atmos should be a great addition. To bad they didn't give us the extended version also, I will keep my german blu-ray then.
