Interesting. So I ordered mine on line from JB-Hi Fi in Oz to take advantage of the Black Friday sales as I couldn’t get to a store. Noticed nothing shipped yesterday. Saw it on the shelves in a JB Hi Fi store yesterday for a much inflated price.
Then just now got an email advising there was stock issues and I wont get mine until mid December. Does make you wonder if there is an issue with the product.
I’m in no rush. I am actually awaiting two Atmos speakers to arrive before watching them so am happy to be patient.
I noticed this too. Disappointing since I expected to get it tomorrow from in-store pickup method. And I'm itching to see it. There usually is no issue with JB. Gonna have to take matters into my own hands on this one *wink 'n' a nod*
Knowing I will get in due time, whenever it comes, at the current sale price (I'll hold them to it); despite this undoubted issue with product stock.

You can see FOTR on this page and TT on the following page and how they compare to the blu ray tracks. FOTR isn't much different, but again still drops off a cliff at 30hz. TT definitely extended a bit better on blu and again drops off a cliff at 30hz.
Fellowship bass is certainly LOUD down to that 30hz so it is thunderous up to that point just not deep.
The BEQ versions look really good if you are setup for that which I'm not, but this might be my final motivating factor to grab a mini dsp and get BEQ going.
Note that the "FEL" Dobly layers are the usual 2 Mb/s jobbies, if there's any extension data in those streams I'd be verr surprised. Weird that bdinfo keeps reporting them as such. FEL in name only...

What is the bitrate of normal FELs? 2mbps seems like it could certainly be enough to do some extension from 10 to 12bit. Doesn't take much to do just that, as the code values will already be very close to correct at 10bit as it is.

Typically anywhere between 5 and 15% of the main bitrate which fluctuates as any VBR encode would do, whereas these 2 Mb/s layers are at a fixed constant bitrate which suggests no adaptive properties. But it's not just the bitrate itself, it's that people have checked these supposed 'FEL' layers on other movies and they are empty streams with no extension data contained therein, i.e. not FEL after all.
Not making it up, see post (and indeed the thread) below of two of Warners' supposed 'FEL' encodes in action. Blankety blank, Blankety blank

I didn't see anything in these layers that would need decoded. They behave the same, a constant 2mbps bit rate during playback.

I cancelled my Amazon order and will get one delivered from BB on Thursday I get Hobbit today so that will hold me over. I am beyond excited for these 2 sets
With 15 Mb/s dedicated to the audio alone then there needed to be, even then the average bitrate isn't mahoosive for the second disc. I wonder what the bitrates are on the single-disc theatricals, much lower I'd expect.
I believe data-bass.com measured this years ago and I actually tried looking this up yesterday on that site but it was not cooperating with my phone. If you happen to find it over there please post a link as I'm curious myself. IIRC that dts:es DVD track was a bit better vs the blu.

I did the same thing last night. BB will have this to me on Fri.
5 extra lossless tracks and much room left on the discs and they do 16-bit low bitrate atmos for such a title? Pretty sure it will sound great anyways but still.
