Watched this last night for the first time in years. Very much enjoyed watching it again. The transfer was actually pretty impressive, besides for a few HEAVY grain shots. Plus, I loved how the DV added to the shadow details.

Strange,I preordered the 4k version from amazon uk a couple days ago when it showed it came with 5 art cards. They removed the art card from the listing. Wonder if they will still have it included?

Can you confirm if there's anything different picture quality wise or if the UK version COULD'VE include the original mono?

This transfer certainly looks great and the HDR is just... wow. Michael’s knife reflecting light, the lights on the front of the van in the evening, reae tail lights, just a few examples that stand out.

Went to a local Target tonight to pick this up. Like many of the reports here, my Target did not have any on the shelves either. I don't what's up with that...anyway, we asked the guy if they had any in back, and he said he was sure that he saw it. He went back and grabbed it for me.

The slip isn't perfect, but it's ok, and the sticker doesn't cover any of the text on the slip. My GF had a $5 off coupon for any purchase, so I used it on this and my total came to $10.59 after tax. Woot! I couldn't be more stoked.

The original plan was to wait until October, and use this to kick off our 31 days of horror marathon, but honestly I can't wait, so I think we're going to watch it here in a bit. My GF has never seen it, and I am curious about the transfer...why wait?

Yeah the Target I initially went to didn’t have any either. The help I received said it was “on its way” to the store but they didn’t have it in the actual store. Online says it’s there and it says go to store to buy. Anyway, another staff member told me a store nearby had 3. Went there, not on the shelves but this guy knew to check the back and found it.

I own the 2007 and 35th blu-rays along with boxset but decided to purchase this version. I have a 4K player but haven't made the jump as far as my TV so I can't really speak for the upgrade in resolution.

Maybe its just me but I actually prefer the color grading of the 2007 version. I was thrown off by the 35th color scheme and honestly the film looks a bit dull IMO.

I will have to revisit the 4K version when I upgrade my TV but for now I think I will stick to watching 2007 disc for Halloween season.

Sidenote: I took my gf to see the film in theaters back before the 35th anniversary. She never saw the whole film so it was a treat for both of us to see it on the big screen.

It's the HDR that that makes it the huge upgrade for me.

Yes. The way the sun comes through the trees when Laurie and company are walking through the neighborhood. There is so much depth to the image that I never saw on any previous release.

Yeah. There is a decent detail upgrade, and the grain is more refined, but overall it's the HDR that really makes this worth buying. When I put in the Blu-ray afterward it looked much more flat. HDR adds a lot of depth and film like look to all the scenes, like it usually does.

Is there any verdict on the status of the mono track? Lionsgate is or isn't going to do anything about an incorrect audio track?

Ok, I just finished watching this on my budget setup (LG player into TCL tv) and thought it was great. I had zero playback or flashing/flickering issues or anything of that nature.

I also thought the transfer looked really good. From some of the reports, I half expected a super de-saturated/grey/dull picture, but I didn't find that the to be the case at all. It's not an eye popping transfer by any stretch of the imagination, but I didn't find the color saturation or color timing to be an issue to my eyes.

If I had to say anything about the color, I did think the daytime sky looked a bit washed out, but when I popped in the BD to compare afterward, it didn't appear any more deeply saturated to me. After I thought about it a bit, nothing else looked de-saturated though, so it wouldn't make sense for the sky to be off kilter either.

Film grain was wonderfully rendered, and throughout the run time, I found myself lovingly admiring it.

If I HAD to quibble, it would be instances of dust showing up in some black scenes. If that's all I can complain about, then I can't really say I have any complaints at all. I am 100% satisfied with the purchase.

All of this is IMO and YMMV. I am also not trying to tell anybody else that they did/didn't see what they saw on their sets. I am not saying other people do not have good equipment, nor am I saying that others do not have their setups properly calibrated. I am merely saying that everything looked great on my system, and to my eyes.

Watched this last night. I thought it looked great and was just really loving the quality throughout. One scene that stuck out was when Michael impales Bob on tbe wall. I am noticed for the first time the handle of the knife and the shine of the blade jutting out. It's never really looked as pronounced on a prior release before (to me at least) as it did on the 4k disc.

You just reminded me of the absurdity of that scene. Not only would one knife pin someone to the wall like it did but a stab in the stomach would not instantly kill someone like it did.

Oh well, the movie is still fun.
