I'm sure Superman Returns with it's killer Bryan Singer + Kevin Spacey combo is at the top of WB's priority list, they're just waiting for them to come in and record a new commentary track.

I've held off getting StM just on the off-chance there would be a box set soon but it's getting harder and harder to resist.

I really wouldn't mind just having Warner ignore SR (for now) and just stick to the Reeve ones.

Heck, a 4K boxset of just Supes 1-2 with every version of each would make a heckuva release:

STM Theatrical
STM SE
STM Extended Cut

SII Theatrical
SII Donner Cut

And if they really wanted to sell it, they could also include either the SII Extended TV cut or a new "Ultimate Cut" combining the best parts from the Lester and Donner Cuts.

I know some of the other films aren't quite as good...especially "Quest for Peace."

But...

This Blu-ray set had them all with a ton of extras for each film. They included some of the more questionable Batman films in the steelbook set. But this blu-ray set has both theatrical and extended/Donner cuts. They even included Superman Returns with special features. I'd be fine if they just gave us the same extras on Blu-ray. It'd be a lot better than some other WB releases like the LOTR "ULTIMATE collection"

I already have Superman in 4K, now I only want Superman II. Forget about III & IV.

I think one of the issues is Donner was probably not involved with the UHD BD. Not sure of his health, age, and availability at the time of mastering, but it could have/would have probably looked different for the better had he been involved.

Man I would love to find this set. I didn't know it included all of the different cuts and Superman Returns... I should have picked this up when I saw it around.

In High Street shops it possibly wouldn't be available, but I'd of thought it should be easy enough to find to buy online. Very cheaply aswell. I bought mine maybe roughly 5 years ago now, but even that was 5 or 6 years after it was first released. And seeing as it's Region Free, you can double your chance of getting it, to seeking out both US or UK release. (with only slight box package differences)

And actually after looking again, the image above is showing the 2 differences. UK slides out from the side. US slides off from the top.

Iv just thought to add actually, and I dunno if this applies to only the UK release, but I got lucky aswell when it came to the one I bought (used), and that's that the outer box was glossy and shiny. I went on to discover that a re issue they did was then just a dull matte box.

I have that original glossy version, lovely. For a bit more detail this set doesn't include the Super Extended Cut of the first film you have yo buy that separately. When this set first came out the 3hr extended cut hadn't been released yet or found even?

The TV cut was released afterwards.

1 and 2 deserves a Blade Runner type ultra release with:
-Theatrical, Extended and TV cuts of 1
-Theatrical, Donner and TV cut of 2 plus perhaps a hybrid version that includes some of the theatrical material that Donner never got to shoot-something the Vudu cut tries to do courtesy of someone at Warner.
-Proper transfers with no teal infusion as happened on most of the BDs. All original audio mixes which means mono, Dolby Stereo and 70mm mix for 1 and Dolby Stereo, 70mm and Megasound mix for 2. Also it would be great to have a purist audio mix option for the Donner cut.
-Heaps of new extras and a Lauzirika type Dangerous Days documentary about the mammoth and tumultuous production.
-Plus every scrap of extra material shot presented separately. This way fans can finally see every bit of unused film and piece together in their heads what a Donner finished II could have really been like. Plus it would help to envision what the further planned films could have been like with Donner and Mankiewicz alternating directing duties.

But it's WB so that's not going to happen.

No major studio is going to put that much effort into a release these days, and even if they did, the sales figures wouldn't justify it.

Hamilton books has it new for $39.99 plus shipping. That’s where I ordered mine from a few months back. https://www.hamiltonbook.com/the-sup...8-2006-blu-ray

Exactly what I was thinking, no use taking the piss out of Warners when no-one would do such a thing now. Though which was the last such extensive 'archival' project from a major studio? Oh that's right, Warners with Blade Runner.
