Dunno what they changed but the pacing in the second half was considerably better.

I was hooked from episode one of Westworld. I absolutely loved the acting and the world they created.

Just like The Expanse I really liked the first episode of West World but quit halfway through the season out of boredom. I'll go back someday, I swear!

I love 'Game of Thrones' and though I have all 7 seasons on BD Steelbook (with Dolby Atmos sound) I will certainly upgrade/double-dip to 4K, but will wait until the complete boxset (with all 8 seasons) is released on 4K (with Dolby Atmos). Am sure it will be mighty costly, but for this epic quality series it will be worth it!

I’m not going to rebuy the entire series even though it is my favorite show. I’m satisfied enough with the BDs. I will probably get the final season assuming it gets a day 1 UHD release. I am, however, curious about Season 1’s transfer. Do you think they’ll use the HDR and WCG to try to make the look match the rest of the series? Since S1 doesn’t look exactly the same and wasn’t as heavily color graded as the show starting with S2.

Depending on how it looks, I might double dip on S1.

I'll buy all the seasons in UHD if the quality is good with good HDR. But if it's just a minor resolution bump with minimal or nonexistent HDR I'll probably only get the final season in UHD.

^^^ One word: Yes!

I'm not sure what home theatre TV lover wouldn't love GOT. This is coming from someone who didn't start S1 til like 2013. And then it became too much word of mouth to not give it a go, and that was vindicated just a few episodes in when you finally start to learn the names/characters.

Guaranteed to hook you after the first episode, if not then off with your head!

seriously, if you do begin to like the show you will have plenty of time to watch all six seasons with the final season set to debut next March or April.....

It is gratuitous on all fronts at times because... hey, it's HBO! So, it's definitely hard R rated and sometimes slips into softcore porn territory.

Just so you know.

I am worried that HBO will release GOT Season 1 UHD and we won’t see S2-8 for many years... Much like what occurred with The Sopranos on 1080p Blu-Ray.

The Sopranos S1 came out on BD in 2009 (S6 Pt1&2 had BD releases in 2006), but they stopped at Season 1 until The Sopranos Complete Series was released 5 years later.
And what pissed me off the most, I owned S1, S6 Pt1 & S6 Pt2 on BD (importing the latter). So The Sopranos CS was kind of a double dip (except that the 2006 releases were VC-1 and Uncompressed PCM 5.1).

While I notice HBO did release the BD’s again when Dolby Atmos arrived, they only needed to go back to S1-4.

Only time will tell. But as I have got all the US digipaks from S1-S7, for UHD will wait for a complete series box set: IF the Upscaled 4K pic is a major uptick in detail.

Hmm, I overall liked the whole first season of WW but I do think I preferred the first half. I won't get into spoilers but the second half spent more time with two characters I found very tedious (one of whom I also thought was miscast) and the last episode felt like they needed more time to wrap things up without having to rely so heavily on voiceover. It was a bit like watching something written by Chris Carter or Hideo Kojima at times. And I definitely did notice the 'restructuring' after being warned to look out for it. The first half or so of the season is a slow burn and I felt that pacing suited the material.

The first season is fairly safe as a blind buy but I'd still recommend streaming first. I came to loathe the writing in GoT after a few seasons.

While the Sopranos was popular, was it as popular as Game of Thrones which has had multiple editions released for each season and next month the UK is about to have each season released again on blu-ray with limited edition packaging.

I'm sure it will be ok and we will get a season in UHD every couple of months just in time for season 8. I wouldn't be surprised if there are UHD steelbooks released after the show has finished so they can continue to cash in until the spin-off series are ready to broadcast.
