Now I hear the 4K disc looks better, but my problem is, I have a 4k Oppo 203 new still sealed in the box, saving it for the day I finally upgrade to a 4K tv. I'm currently using a 65" Panasonic VT50/Oppo 103 and I'm curious if breaking out the 4k Oppo and running it into my 1080p VT50 to watch the 4K version will yield better results than the BD. I've been accumulating about a dozen 4K/BD combos of favorite movies for the day when I upgrade my tv so I'll have something to watch, but should I just go ahead and least enjoy whatever limited benefits the Oppo 203 > VT50 might give me? Or is it pointless until I go 4K tv?
Enjoy your new OLED

I've read some bad things about the Oppo doing HDR to SDR, but the relatively cheap LG UP875 (was on sale for $79 recently at Best Buy) has done a great job here with down conversions. It's not clear whether it's actually retaining any 10-bit color with my deep color projector (the projector shows it'sin 12-bit color mode, but that doesn't prove it). An HDFury Interlink or Vertex will for sure, though. But either way, I didn't see any glaring issues other than some minor contrast changes in scenes that are stable on the 2K discs.

Certainly Flight of the Butterflies was night and day better from the 4K disc in 2K in terms of color than the 2K disc regardless here, but that could be the 2K disc's edit rather than 10-bit color, but it does show the 4K version can be better sometimes regardless. I also tried The Matrix 4K on a Panasonic 720p plasma as well in 2K and it looked great there too so clearly it does at least a credible job downscaling both resolution and color space. I don't know how well the Oppo would do by comparison.

Finally got to watch this newly bought disc last night. Wonderful 4K-transfer of this classic sci-fi movie imho, looked excellent on my setup! Very pleased!

Except the covers have the proper green we've been used to but now the color in the grade itself shifts more to cyan in the green spectrum than the green we've been conditioned on since 2003

Finally watched this yesterday (was waiting for DV FW) and wow! This met and often exceeded expectations throughout. As I admired the grain and how wonderfully it helped retain the original look of this film I couldn’t help but laugh as I remembered how much I used to disliked film grain. I now realize I just had no idea what I was looking at. Thankfully I figured it out lol.

I like my UK version with a metal and mate finish slipcover and that gourgeous white rabitt inside. I love animals, everything that walks on four legs and has hair. Of course dogs are at the top of my list but when I was a kid I spent Summer in Northwestern Spain country side at my grandma's Summer house. All our neighbours had cows and God how much I loved those huge animals. Their owners told me not to get close to them but I did it anyway, they were so nice to me, and I told them nice things and I gave them sugar cubes or a big slice of bread with milk and sugar. We loved each other so much. The sheppard dogs too, I pampered them so much with dogs sweets and cookies.
I love the white rabitt on my Matrix UHD BD that's why I didn't wait for a discount or the Black Friday, then it could be without sleepcovers with Neo, Trinity and the other guy on the main cover and no white rabitt.

My copy finally arrived. Didn't notice the glitch that's been pointed out here at all.

The grade looks great, except for patches in the Morpheus rescue sequence where it fluctuates wildly. Neo in his boss's office being so blue is odd, but at least it's consistent from shot to shot.

Can't understand all the hate in this thread for this release. Just watched the UHD in DV last night, and this is easily the best this film has ever looked at home. I was worried after reading a lot of the negative comments from this thread, but my experience was similar to the official review on this site. I think a lot of the hatred is coming from those that don't even have a 4K setup and are just looking at the supposed "screen caps" on a non-HDR monitor. If you have an even remotely good HDR setup, this is the definitive version of the film to watch at home.

10/10
