Supermarket or no supermarket, I always find Geoff's posts really interesting. He has such great knowledge about everything (as do many other members here). I've always been interested in sound and picture quality. I'm not too sure that I would like Geoff's eagle eyes though but I love reading about it nonetheless.

Good comparison.
Mel is also a very good actor in real life. He plays the part with convincing authority.

Geoff always reminds me of this guy:

Did you notice the small spec in the print, a hair @ the bottom, a minor flaw imprinted on the film's pellicule.

I often wonder if big name actors themselves are crazy about picture and sound quality and what sort of av kit they have.
If I had that sort of money I would be going nuts on home theatre equipment.

Probably depends on the actor. I imagine a lot of them are too busy. Seems like The Rock from what I have seen commented on movies on IG, and he would show pics of him just watching on his laptop.

Yeah.Actors like Tom Cruise etc just seem to be working constantly.Maybe a lot of them prefer making movies rather than watching them although im sure they must still watch a lot.

Question for everyone:

Watched this last night on Oppo 203 (in HDR) to Sony VPL-VW885ES. Looks great, although some scenes were a bit soft and had focus issues, many scenes were sharp.

At the very end, when Hamish throws the sword in the air before the end credits, as the sword is flying in the sky and twirling, I noticed a TON of artifacts (flashing, macroblocking, etc)...this was the only place on the whole disc that did this.

Did anyone else notice this?

Your posts are so entertaining that I almost feel like I should be paying a subscription fee for access. But I wouldn't want you to get an overinflated ego, so I'll just use that money to buy some of the discs that you recommend instead.

He must watch a good amount since he always seems to "pick" the director's of his movies based on stuff he's liked.

"Brown nosing" is done with the expectation of receiving some kind of gain. I am gaining nothing from my remarks; he is not going to "reward" me in any way.

In fact, all I have "earned" is your ridicule, which I think I can manage to bear.

That sucks. I was going back and forth for a long time trying to decide if that 20% off was worth it. Just don’t trust Target deliveries after getting 2 a week after release date recently.

I’m just too impatient for that haha. At least you can have peace of mind knowing you paid less than most of us!

I think this transfer is pretty wonderful but the shots that are soft really stand out by comparison. Not enough to ruin the movie or break immersion or anything silly like that, enough that you notice them and can tell though without a critical eye.

It's been years since I've watched it so I'm pretty fired up about it. Watching Die Hard first for sure then Gladiator. I'll be taking breaks in between so I can jam BBQ down my gullet.

Then it starts all over again next week with JP and the Matrix!
