TV cost three and a half grand, 200+ UHDs, so all those grannies looking for the cheese section are keeping me in clover, lemme tell ya!

Are you retired and work there for extra scratch? Because I don’t know how you afford this hobby otherwise, unless your wife makes the bacon (which is fine, my wife also makes more than I).

Exactly this! Is it 100% perfect? No it's not. Few transfers are. There are definitely wide scenic shots that came out on the softer side. I've seen this movie more times than I care to admit and this is by far the best it's ever looked. Period. Massive upgrade imo if even just for the colour alone. Now if you typically pause frame through an entire movie nitpicking during your viewings then all the power to ya...but maybe you need to re evaluate your life

No wife/partner...hence the disposable income, and the masses of free time spent on here day after day

I'll probably have eaten it all first. Been trying to cut back lately mind you, working around delicious foodstuffs all day is not good for one's waistline.

Now every time I go into a supermarket and see a guy stacking shelves, scanning items at the checkout or serving people at the deli counter, i'm gonna be thinking to myself - "Could that be Geoff?"

I label my posts here as "reviews" because people aksed me to.
Amen to that! Or, you can just read what Rocky says and do or think the exact opposite (if one hasn't ignored him), and you're probably not too far off base.

Not to toot your grocery stocking ass further, but what I really like about your "reviews" are that they are OCD detailed. Meticulous and marvelously so. Often times you even include pictures to support exactly what you are talking about. Your descriptions are most often detailed enough to stand on their own, yet the pictures support the Geoffy words. It also helps that you use big words. I guess what I am sayin' is keep on posting your quality shit, Geoff!

The problem is the professionals (so-called) spent so little effort on what matters most. I'll just use Mr. Ralph Potts as my tired example -- KNOWN to copy and paste sentences and phrases, verbatim, from review to review. Honestly, if you can't think of synonyms, then you probably shouldn't be writing "professionally." He spends only a couple sentences on the technical aspects, yet often times one or more of those few sentences are generic.

Then there's the other end of the spectrum, a la many blu-ray.com reviews, where no matter how lengthy their reviews are, you wonder just what the hell they are watching on and how they came to some of the conclusions they came to for the technical aspect of the disc. These misleading reviews probably lead to droves of people experiencing something entirely different then wondering exactly what is wrong with their set ups.

But, I digress.

Yep. Just laughing at some of the posts here. I'm really happy I don't watch these discs the way some here purport to. Seems like a personal hell.

It's a fantastic disc.

But it's not s***ing on a release indiscriminately guys. Each disc is analysed by the members here and praise comes hand in hand with criticism - Pros and cons.

AV presentation fascinates me, be it good or bad. Especially with a new format like UHD. Delving into the technical aspects of things seldom detracts from my enjoyment of the film unless something is seriously FUBAR. It's another facet of the movie to discuss, just as you'd pick apart strong or weak performances, the score or cinematography etc.

I guaran-f***ing-tee you that nearly everyone here has bought or is going to buy this release and it'll be their go-to version to watch in future. It looks awesome. Doesn't mean it can't be flawed though. What's the harm in acknowledging a weird frame or two or five?

Watched it last night, looked incredible. Some of those shots were truly breath-taking; already eager to watch it again.

Your job may be less than glamorous, but you are a treasure here on blu-ray.com. I'm glad you have the free time to play here so often.

Your posts are so entertaining that I almost feel like I should be paying a subscription fee for access. But I wouldn't want you to get an overinflated ego, so I'll just use that money to buy some of the discs that you recommend instead.

Good enough. We're on a roll.

Did you watch the Dolby Vision version?

Mel Gibson sure can look quite . . . "angry"? ...Those blue eyes.

Hey like I said to each their own. I'm just a big smart *ss no offence intended on my end. I get that a lot of members here are very passionate about the medium and I can respect the time and effort that go into their analysis. I just hope people don't pass on this release due to some of the negative comments that's all. That would be a shame as I think it's a real stunner. If something isn't egregiously noticeable to me in full motion then I ain't too worried about it. If you go out of your way to look for imperfection you will often find it.

Oh, absolutely no offence taken. I too am a big smart *ss and enjoy the company of other smart *sses . I love the look of this release and the more people singing its praises the better but I don't think we should shy away from discussing minor foibles either. If that can't be done here, where in the hell could we do it?

I'd never want anyone to pass on a release based on this stuff. From my perspective - if a release is better than the one that preceded it, then all's well in the world.

I always thought Mel kind of looked like full on deranged mode Klaus Kinski in that shot, truly menacing!

Now, need this be a lesson to anyone undermining the abilities of supermarket staff. You never know the guy beneath that name tag/shop slogan.
