It always baffles me when people say the opposite, which is pretty common. "Today's PG-13 movies would been rated R 20 years ago!!!" Like... no, today's PG-13 movies are often less adult than normal PG movies before, let alone R.

Not to mention having PG on a clearly G film. Like the first Frozen. There's nothing in that film a child can't handle.

What?!? No way. Even comic book movies coming out 25 years ago were PG-13. Look at Batman Forever or Batman and Robin. Neither of those movies had anything that a child couldn't handle and they both got PG-13 ratings. Steel even got a PG-13 rating and nothing about it was PG-13 (yes, I saw Steel in theaters).

That's true in terms of the Batman films. However, virtually all of the Marvel and DC films since 2008 are easily PG and do not warrant PG-13.

The only ones that really scream PG to me are the Ant-Man movies, but they added in some swearing to ensure PG-13 ("I want you to break into a place and steal some s#!t."). It's about marketability; teenagers see the PG rating and think the movie's for kids.

Right, it's all about money rather than what they actually are.

I don't think either Batman Forever or Batman and Robin warrants a PG-13. I think The Nightmare Before Christmas is much deserving of a PG-13 than either of those movies. And It got a PG rating. I think The Nightmare Before Christmas can be pretty scary to young kids. Nothing about the Schumacher Batman films are scary or harmful to young kids. I definitely think a lot of the Marvel Studios are aimed more at young adults and therefore earns its PG-13 rating. Much like the original X-Men movies and the original Spider-Man movies. Though none of those movies are going to harm kids, they're still not aimed at that audience.

I suppose we are just going to have to agree to disagree.

I guess, but I just don't see anything about the Schumacher Batman films that are PG-13. No more so than any of the current superhero movies out with a PG-13 rating. And if the Schumacher Batmans get PG-13 than it stands to reason any current superhero movies would too. Cause I look at those movies (Batman Forever/Batman and Robin) more along the lines of the 1960's Batman movie or Dick Tracy. And both of those had PG ratings.

Even then shit (and we can say that here) really doesn't make something PG-13. The Goonies had way more swearing than that, and it was a bunch of kids on top of that.

I don't suppose they'll fix the subtitles on this?

The player-generated ones are especially annoying for this film, as the original subtitles were used in such a specific way.

Seeing as the Shutter Island one apparently does not, I doubt it.
