Well, Dwayne Johnson changed his name to "The Rock" and made some movies under that name, then "Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson" and now he's pretty much back to just "Dwayne Johnson"

Wasn't he The Rock first, before dropping that to get rid of the association with wrestling?

Good point, but I think one crucial difference is that he wasn't changing his identity really. Everyone still knew who he was regardless. The Wachowski situation wasn't so obvious, at least not to me because I don't usually keep up on celebrity news and had no idea that they had undergone such a significant change. It really had me confused for a while thinking I had misremembered who directed such an important film in my life.

He was just billed as The Rock in his earlier films though. It's not like he legally changed his name.

The siblings are kind of a freak show now. Mental illness is a *****. That said, I hope they don't change the credits on these films. I know the credits have changed on a couple releases in regards to packaging, but nothing yet in terms of credits in a film itself.

If they have to, they could just change it to them being referred to together as "The Wachowskis", no need to say brothers or sisters then.

That would be acceptable for me. I just think seeing Lilly & Lana Wachowski would be a bit too history altering for my tastes.

FWIW there was an ugly conversation on the same topic, in this very thread, that devolved into a nasty political discussion just a week or so ago on here. It was heated and it was several pages. It was all deleted and mod said to not discuss the issue any further or else there would be bans. I can't find the post now, I think its gone too. But you should probably stop pressing the issue. The subject isn't welcome here and people were already warned.

If you don't like it, don't participate. I voiced a legitimate concern. No one is being rude here except you. It's probably people like you who made the conversation get ugly. Stop trying to police people's freedom to have civil discussions. This has nothing to do with trans issues; it has to do with something entirely different. If you can't see that, then you're not being a very reasonable person. And perhaps if we were allowed to have the discussion without certain people trying to make it political, it wouldn't get ugly, then it wouldn't get deleted, then someone else who may have the same question in the future will see that it's already been discussed and not bring it up again. I had no idea it had already been brought up until you just mentioned it. And as I already pointed out; the whole name changing business is something I just discovered last night.

I can see that reading is not your strong suit. You're welcome for the warning btw.

I'd recommend that you familiarize yourself with the rules of the forum, but you probably won't be around much longer.

Not only is it against forum rules, but the sex and gender of the filmmakers has absolutely no bearing on this 4K release.

Any further issues and suspensions/bans will be issued.
EDIT: ah, there it is

Grow up. Stop trying to start a fight. Sex & gender isn't even being discussed (and you think I'm the one with reading comprehension issues lmao). Well, actually now I guess it is since you keep insisting. But that's on you pal, not me. You seem to be desperate to violate the very mod warning you're trying to shove down my throat. I'm discussing names not gender.

For the record: I would have initiated the same discussion if they had changed their names to Bob & Steve or Thunderbolt & Lightfoot.

It was before my time, but that would seem strange to me as he was still active within WWE at the time.

Hell yeah it will! This is the first movie that went through my mind as I was at the checkout for my 4KTV. I'm surprised it wasn't one of the very first titles to hit 4K.

Drop all political correctness bullshit talk and just talk about the f*cking movie. People don't understand that on this very forum.

I'm hoping this gets a full 4K scan with OG 35mm color timing.

I experienced the same confusion when "Walter" Carlos became "Wendy" Carlos on Clockwork Orange soundtrack releases. 15 year old me found the whole concept baffling. lol

I would leave the decision up to the artist(s) themselves as to whether their original or current name was used for re-releases. Taking the decision out of their hands would be disrespectful IMO even if there's an argument to made that the original presentation should be preserved.

It affects NOBODY, literally, let's stick to the movie and the 4K release.

I'm looking forward to this release probably the most of any announced. I think those involved will do it justice. It has a real chance to shine.
