Did anybody else catch the limited IMAX run? I saw this last night in 2k Xenon. It was my second time ever seeing it on a big screen. The last was twenty-two years ago. I love the movie. So I enjoyed my experience. I will say that IMAX DMR scrubbed it nearly clean. You could barely tell it was shot on film. But at least it didn’t have the waxiness of typical DNR cranked to 11. The SDR grade was pretty much the same as the new BD packed in with the UBD. So even though I’m glad to have seen it in the big screen again, I love the UBD and will be rewatching it regularly.

You mean looks.
Because it's clearly the UHD been projected, you know... |

Still looks very green to me. Look at the lightning flashes and the highlights on Morpheus' face as he turns.
But also, we're looking at a graded image of a filmed projection. Not much conclusive can be said about the underlying footage, surely? |

but in this comparison, the flashbacks scenes in the trailer look more like a badly converted hdr cap. regardless of presentation, they look wildly different. even 'enter the matrix' video game movie clips had a much different grade. funny enough, it looked more like the first movie |

What is the studio using to monitor the colours? What are the settings on the studios monitor? The back-lighting set at - contrast brightness colour . All the rest of the settings that are out of the box and not been adjusted using a colour/picture calibration that everyone can use at affordably price 200 or less? None of this silly tens of thousands. Out of the box my LG 65" looks good. The levels of the colours in the advance/settings colour management could do with adjusting. I agree. Water colours mixing those colours with two colours to create a third colour or make one colour paler or add more water or less colour paste to the water so the colour has different shade or texture. That is what these transfers boil down to, here with civil discussion. We shouldn't fight each other. The fight is with those that did the transfer. If I compare the LG vs the video projector I would have to lower the Oled back lighting and maybe lower some contrast/brightness and maybe Use my video camera to see if it can see some shades of colour that my Eye might be missing? Projector is DLP laser projection is light projected onto a screen that has many types of gain level for brightness. LG is Oled light source coming directly towards our eyes. Look directly (thou should NEVER do that!) at video its very bright ad we go Ouch! Same a xenon lamps (NEVER Look directly at it) (Never look directly at the sun or arc welding or Laser beams) What was the transfer process at the studio for the transfer 'The Matrix' where's the video that shows the Proof of the transfer processor from star to final on the shelf product where is it??? I see extras about the movie I do not care about as those extras are on Laserdisc or DVD or youtube. I care about the actual transfer picture to sound mix, thou they can keep their, near field atmos upmix. |

If this could have gone without the cyan tint and included the original 5.1 mix without tinkering around with something we wouldn’t be squabbling still over the same film. As it is the UHD is the best we’ve gotten technically but has issues of its own which is of course frustrating. Each fan has to pick whichever version they’re most happy with and go with it.
At the very least the defective SDR Blu-ray included should have been fixed. What’s just as crazy are the silly prices the Laserdisc is selling for now. I think one just cracked the $500 threshold which is insane. It’s just a standard Warner late release! |
