I would like to know who are the people that take someone that writes shit like this seriously: https://x.com/althousetom

Quote:
Watch for another big covid outbreak in Texas! They are spraying the skies again right now at night buzzing roofs at high speeds, like they are crop dusting, to blanket residential areas, delivering it right to our doors. They want mask mandate back. Each time brings outbreaks.
And here is the court document: https://deadline.com/wp-content/uplo...0429004948.pdf comparing the plot, which has nothing to do whatsoever with the Matrix films.

Quote:
The only similarity in plot is that both stories portray a protagonist attempting to prevent a dominant group from oppressing and annihilating a subservient group. However, the extrinsic test “looks beyond the vague, abstracted idea of a general plot and instead focuses on the objective details of the works.” Berkic, 761 F.2d at 1293. Looking at the details of the plot, which are potentially protectible, the Court finds no substantial similarities. In The Immortals, Hitler and the Nazis are cryogenically frozen and then reanimated at a time when their cohorts have successfully created an immortality drug. The protagonist, Jim, must fight the now-immortal Nazis who seek to oppress and destroy all “Short-lifers.” In contrast, in The Matrix Trilogy, machines harvest humans’ energy while trapping their minds in a virtual reality known as the “matrix.” The protagonist, Neo, seeks to free humans from enslavement by the machines and protect a group of rebels who live freely in the real world. The basic premises of The Matrix Trilogy and The Immortals are so different that it would be unreasonable to find their plots substantially similar.

...

The Court does not find it necessary to continue an exhaustive list of dissimilarities between the two films. The Court has read The Immortals and viewed all three films of The Matrix Trilogy. The Court finds no substantial similarity as to any protectible element of plot, characters, theme, dialogue, mood, setting, pace, or sequence. Even if Plaintiff could prove that Defendants had access to The Immortals script, no reasonable jury could possibly conclude that The Matrix Trilogy is substantially similar to The Immortals in any of these categories. As a result, the Court grants Defendants’ Motion for Summary Judgment on Plaintiff’s copyright infringement claims and finds that The Matrix Trilogy does not infringe The Immortals.

The Dark Knight? I think this conspiracy goes deeper than Hollywood producers, clearly this poor embittered soul has been victimized for 85 years by the vultures Bill Finger and Bob Kane! And I think I've got a book on my shelf called The Man in the High Castle from the 60s. This man is clearly the most plagiarized genius of the last century!

So you could argue that his script was stolen from Tomorrow I'll Wake Up and Scald Myself with Tea more convincingly than you could argue it was stolen by for The Matrix...

My local Regal played The Matrix 25th anniversary re-release back in April. I'm surprised that Fathom is releasing it again less than 6 months later.

I just watched this for the first time in probably 10 years, and it was a slick movie. The action set pieces were fantastic, and this particular transfer was solid as well. I didn't notice any picture gremlins to speak of, and that Atmos was reference quality. The lobby shootout scene and the following gatling gun scene rocked the walls! Overall I'm pleased to have this in my collection. I'll be watching the sequels in the coming days and I've never seen them before so wish me luck.

We are watching this in my Philosophy class and I want to show them the excellent documentary "Return to the Source". Was this only part of the big DVD box and never rereleased? I can't seem to find it anywhere else. It isn’t part of my digital trilogy version or my UHD of The Matrix.

It's on the US Ultimate Matrix Collection blu-ray boxset too, but on a flipper DVD. This one: https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Matr...dp/B008UZCZL4/

I have the big DVD, but wondered if the documentary had been updated to HD. Thanks.

TrueHD 5.1 vs Atmos

https://slow.pics/c/96MAL9LE

The Atmos track has compressed the dynamics and is significantly louder, with square-wave peaks.

I attenuated the Atmos by 3 dB in the latter two bass graphs to match loudness.

The original track is practically flawless, aside from some very minor clipping.

Had Atmos for several years, but too gimmicky with only two heights and seat almost at the wall, so I downgraded to 4.1. Good to know it's better in plain surround sound. Have the theatrical mix muxed in, but think I still need to get the Reloaded and Revolutions BDs, if it's the same. Unfortunate that they didn't just bundle the old discs with the 4K. The included BDs have Atmos too.

Yeah same. Nowadays I find myself mostly remuxing UHDs with the original blu-ray audio because of tracks like this.

Isn't the OG track on the 4K?

Even when I still had 5.1.2, I picked the older sound mixes over the Atmos and DTS:X almost every time. 3D audio is only worth it if you're really into new studio movies and revisionism and sit in the center of the space (rather than closer to the wall).

DD 5.1 track on the 4K as well as the remastered BD is not OG audio. You can still hear the newly added sound effects on that track as well. The lobby shootout is a good scene to compare between the OG mix and the new mix
