And they need it, because their own piss poor handling/shipping methods damage most things that need to be returned. They go for quantity over quality, even if 100 people out of 1,000 return something damaged by cheap shipping it's nothing to them.

I recall the time I built my desktop and sourced most parts I needed from Amazon due to free shipping, no tax, and pretty good discounts on other sources. They shipped everything pretty good...but then stuck a shipping label directly to the GPU's box and sent it that way. This was before the big crypto explosion so it arrived, and thankfully intact. But oh man how unprofessional!

I have ordered over 100 blu-rays from Amazon and have been incredibly lucky so far.
The only thing that came damaged was a Top Gun steelbook. It happened twice. The spine kept breaking, so I just ended up keeping the 2nd. My Friday the 13th Collector's set arrived in a box just bigger than the set itself with a couple of those air things perfectly inflated. I know this was not the norm. |

Amazon is strange with their packaging. They will send me a disc in a small plastic envelope one day and the next day send me a can of nuts in a box big enough for a gaming PC.

Probably just automated weirdness. It'll correct itself again. And if you already pre-ordered from them, it doesn't matter since the lowest price during the entire pre-order period stands.

I would say at this point, don't even try to make any changes, knowing Best Buy some glitch will happen and cancel your order. Also see that price increase on Amazon for them to $36.21, maybe Amazon will follow and make it available at that price point, until release day comes, and it comes back down which is hard to say at this point. I got my order for Halloween in the other night, but was going to probably add Halloween 2, but now its a waiting game.

If a significant amount of people were returning things as to make a financial impact then Amazon would package differently. They don't, so... they don't.

Glad that I pre-ordered Parts 1-5, when they all hit $27.99 the other day. I knew that AMZ would pull this bullshit and bump up the price at some point. |

Yeah, Amazon watches Best Buy, Walmart, etc. quite faithfully and adjust their prices, with BB showing sold out, perhaps Amazon felt they could raise their prices although Target shows them all available for $29.99 pre-order, so a bit surprised Amazon didn't raise it that price point. I may wait for the next Target B2G1F sale, in the past a few pre-orders qualified too.

And believe me, that has happened and I had to make that choice more than once. With Amazon, I have that option. I care bout my discs and I don't like having scratches right out of the case. Plus it's harder to sell later if it is scratched. If they're both scratched badly, I could even ask for a third exchange. I had one set arrive twice in a row completely trashed from Amazon. I had to do a 2nd exchange to get one that wasn't crushed. Which is of course a risk with Amazon so they're not an ideal option. I just like the ease of exchanges. |

Somehow they generate so much money they don't even care about how much they are losing. Like you said, they obviously don't care enough to change their policies. Oddly, Amazon Japan does an incredible packing job. I order plastic transparent Disney-themed jigsaw puzzles once or twice a year from Amazon Japan for Christmas gifts. They elastic-band them together, then wrap them carefully in shrink wrap, then affix that to the bottom of a sturdy box, to keep it from shifting. The box is always big enough that no additional packing material is necessary. The content inside can't shift, and there's a good few inches of space around all sides for cushioning if the box takes a hit. It's amazing how well they pack things. |

Amazon doesn't give you static unless you go over 3 returns, I've never tried going for a 4th but don't think they will fault you for continuing to get scratched/damaged stuff, I've heard stories about accounts getting banned for abusing returns (must have to be A LOT). I had 3 copies of quite an expensive LE of a CD come once that was in this funky packaging, and I guess all Amazon's stock was damaged cause each backing insert was mashed up inside the case in some way, I just returned them all and bought digital. They do and they don't. I have been using Amazon Japan since 2010 or so. They use to mail everything in boxes. Now they use recycled paper mailers with the ridges (not even bubble wrap), but oddly enough I've never had a single thing come damaged, because their air transport must be top notch. The last order I made from them was two Blu Ray movies and 2 CDs and they were put into one ridged mailer and nothing had any damage, but I was super afraid opening it (cracked CD cases suck). But their speed from Japan is just unmatched, I swear I get things from them in less than 3 days most times. Last edited by Telemachus; 07-17-2021 at 03:56 PM. |

I've returned things as many as 4 times before. I think the only issue that arises from multiple exchanges is that they might make you pay for some of the replacements until they receive the returns.
