The Ten Commandments 4K UHD (1956)

Got my shipping email from Best Buy on Thursday. Was hoping that it just might show up today...nope. Monday delivery is fine but it would have been nice to get it today.

My Amazon UK copy has apparently dispatched, so hoping it’ll arrive either tomorrow or Monday (even though it still says arriving 6th April). Got next week off, plus there’s the Easter weekend, so plenty of time to watch this baby.

I guess I had pre-ordered this after all! I received it today. One very tiny detail I am very happy about....
In the final shot, there is what appears (in motion) to be a speck of white dirt. Upon closer inspection, it is actually a diamond-shaped sparkle from the lighting hitting the special effects glass. I was afraid they would erase this as part of their additional clean-up. They didn't. That is the eye for detail that makes this the best restoration ever....or at least top three.

other than some of the combining of the matte shots - the colors, the clarity, the sharpness is incredible - there's even a little bit I've never noticed before when Ramses is pouring the water from the flask into the water before it turns to blood a rather large bug can be seen behind him making an entrance on the studio floor. What an impressive scan/transfer - I cannot wait to see what Paramount has done with the 65mm transfer to UHD for 'My Fair Lady'

And then, it's not even bitrate allocation alone, but having the encoder's options optimized on top of that. We've seen numerous times the difference on BD between a good and a bad encode even at similar AVB (and even at equivalent instant bitrate), the same goes for UHD.

Is there anyone good at custom artwork, who can make a Paramount retail looking case insert for the 1923 version disc that's in the prior BD editions? With the 4K edition, I don't need the old set except for this one disc, and I'd prefer to treat it as a single disc standalone 1923 edition.

It's not a rental you own it, so you'll have plenty of time to watch the movie as many times as you want.

I pre-ordered it just now from BBY and will receive it this coming Wednesday. I can't wait to see it in 4K this coming week. A truly epic film. It won only 1 Oscar (Special Effects), though it should have won more IMO. Interesting enough, Yul Brynner, one of the leading stars of the film, won Best Actor for The King and I that same year.

The Academy Awards always have been B.S! The movies, actors and actresses who should've won Oscars doesn't. It's political. Everybody know that The Ten Commandments should have won Best Picture that year because, it was a much better movie than Around The World in 80 Days. You should see all the crap that's been winning these awards for the past few decades. It's pathetic!

LOL okay...it just would’ve been awesome to watch this as early as possible before actual release day. And as close to actual beginning of Passover as possible. I pre-ordered way before the trip became a reality.
