I think we need to see the disc first before making this assessment - the movie is very "stagey" in look and there isn't a lot of movement. Bitrate in this case would help detail & grain - VistaVision having very fine grain to begin with.

With an average bitrate above 47 Mbps, video is still going to spike over 70 Mbps. Martin Liebman's review gives every indication of an adequate bitrate on video, and a quality encode. Splitting the Ten Commandments over 2 discs at a higher bitrate might benefit imagery when pausing video, but in motion, it is unlikely that anybody would notice much of a difference, not with peaks above 70 Mbps.

I haven't seen it but it sounds like ST09 comes from a lower quality encode. It happens.

I ordered 10 commandments March 18 from BB. It shipped March 24
from Louisville USPS & is arriving today. I'm in California.

Amazon must be ahead of the ball as of late. Last week I got Godzilla 5 days before release and now Ten Commandments is here today 4 days early

I canceled my Target pre-order (with stray 20% off coupon knocking it lower than current pricing elsewhere) because my bank balance looked dangerously low in case it shipped before my next check, especially after Bull Moose shipped TGSOE & WW84 early (looks like I'll have them a day early assuming no Louis DeJoy screwups). Alas, my bank had forgotten to pull another authorization hold & understated my available balance.

However, I discovered some good news: It looks like Walmart will be carrying this disc in-store for $19.96, at least in the Bible Belt (and I'm right in the middle of it in the worst way -- my governor just signed two anti-LGBTQ bills in two days, with more on the way). At one point, the Walmart app already claims "Limited Stock" at my local store (and "In Stock" at another nearby store). Though in another view it has an odd-looking "OUT_OF_STOCK" message, I read that as "it's here but we can't sell it till release date". Thus, hopefully I can pick it up in-store on release date.

Congrats! If only Amazon.ca did this. Canadian retail almost never delivers before release. In fact, it's already getting harder to get it by release date. Godzilla arrived here a day later (not bad). Still patiently waiting for Cinema Paradiso 4K.

Sadly even that is no guarantee. I picked up my copy of the Soul steelbook this week from Best Buy and got home to find 2 dents in it.
