IMO not a big deal, but I thought I'd share it as well.
Man, that's just a small thing but that flashback difference sounds like it makes a lot less psychological sense for the character motivation now. :/

I spotted more jaggie moments around buildings/objects. The movie not only sucks it's also poorly shot.
Looks like a 4:2:2 transfer from a gopro.

First Blood > 2008 > Last Blood > 3 > 2

In a year full of digital de-aging monstrosities, old man Sly stands tall as the real deal.

Yvette Monreal kills me in this movie. She has a ton of screen presence and emotional range.

Some of the most hateworthy villains I've seen and I'm glad it was put to film.

Home Alone Rambo is a good thing.

I love it.

Mostly because they belong to the movie. I'm not talking about subtitles which help you understand the movie or SDH. These subtitles here are for a second language which was used intentionally. Also, I already own the Lionsgate UHD Blu-ray which has the subs at the correct spot (not sure if burnt-in).

Btw the subtitles on the German disc cover the black bar and sometimes the image. This looks pretty crappy.

I know, but I've never used this and never bought any discs where it would be needed. I mostly buy American these days because they usually have the subs for foreign languages burnt-it.

Yes, they are. Example below (also because the review doesn't have one):

[Show spoiler]

And I also agree that they are nice (also because of the fading) and therefore wouldn't want to miss them (because I'm just as picky about them as you are ).

I'm not really tempted by the missing intro because to me this is a grindhouse b-movie. The intro sounds like it's trying to make it a more dramatic and profound film like the first and fourth ones, but I don't think it has the ability to be that.

So does the Australian 1080p release have the correct flashback in the extended cut?

One would think so, since the schnittbericht is based on that disc. Swiss Ascot Elite BD got it wrong as well according to movieside.

Agree completely. Watched the US, share the B-movie sentiment and think the prologue is rather pointless. Basically what Cliff said initially. I don't agree with him re. part 4, but I do here.

But the feature is there nonetheless and it will cure the subtitle positioning of being "pretty crappy" with just a few button pushes.

I watched the US cut twice until now, but after seeing the cut report from Schnittberichte.com I'm not sure if I would need any of the additions. The movie works perfectly for me in the US cut.

Got the German steelbook anyway, because I'd like to see it and have all available versions of a movie. Preferably in one package. Thx, Lionsgate!
At least I could put it right next to the MK9 knife.

I think I'll quadruple dip anyway when there will be a Lionsgate disc with the international cut...

That's correct, but will the Oppo remember it for this disc but use the standard setting for every other disc? Or do I have to move them every time for this disc?

Anyway, the subs are in a pretty crappy standard font and do not come close to the fading subs from the US/UK. The subs from the AU-BD seem to be player-generated as there are none at all at the Schnittberichte caps.

No the subs stay in the same position until moved again.

Even if it's a mistake, I prefer the Vietnam flashback instead of the intro. I think the intro shows well enough that Rambo is disturbed by the loss and to see him still dealing with Vietnam PTSD in the tunnels just adds to the character. I'd miss not having that in there.

So it's a flashback to footage from the additional intro? If so, that's redundant, yeah.

Vietnam flashback in the tunnel would be more psychologically apt since underground bunker style prep work like that would come more from his sense of war than his sense of human tragedy and paternal fear.

Hmm... maybe the German UHD made the right call there. I imagine a future Lionsgate Extended Cut release would be based on the "correct" flashback version and not this version, so it could potentially remain unique.

The subs on the Aussie BD are definitely burnt-in. Checked it myself, they're still there during fast-forward mode.

Are we sure this is an error? I mean, isn’t it possible the cut on the German UHD/BD is what was exhibited in that country’s theaters? Think about it—how do you accidentally create a Frankenstein cut of footage from different territories?
