If I recall correctly the novel had Isla Nublar being bombed at the end by the Costa Rican government, to kill the dinos. This necessitated a second island for the sequel novel, which likely just got incorporated into the movie despite the original film not including the bombing.

If they can bring Ian Malcom and John Hammond back from the dead, they can un-bomb an Island.

The movie had fantastic effects, but was brainless. Good popcorn flick if you don't think too hard. For example:

[Show spoiler] They jumped a truck onto the back of the boat ... physics aside, no one batted an eye at that noise?!?! Also, we aren't told exactly where the estate is, but it is likely in USA somewhere. The boat leaving the island must be fast as hell, but it was practically at the docks just "down the street from the estate" in a blink of an eye. Good thing that massive cargo boat went fast, so no one had to worry about food or water during the voyage.

This is never anything but a damning thing to say about a movie, and does a good job describing why I hated it.

"Brainless"? A lot of the stuff in the movie came directly from the original novels.

[Show spoiler]Given the situation at the time I thought it was safe to assume those on the ship just saw one of their vehicles trying to get the hell off the island and barely making it, we are not supposed to believe it stealthily got on there lol

As for the ship arriving at the estate so quickly it’s no different than the ship from Isla Sorna arriving as quickly as it did in TLW, one minute they are leaving the island on a helicopter and the next shot they are at San Diego just in time for the ship to arrive.

I rented this last night and honestly, the movie surpassed my expectations. From a PQ standpoint, it was extremely impressive and the Panasonic 820 (loving this player) did a perfect job of tone mapping as the HDR and color were very nicely rendered.

It’s a very nice looking movie. I like the story too, but the visuals are the best part.

This movie was pretty bad. There are just too many "just in time" saves. It starts getting just too silly.

That said, my kid is still enjoying these movies and loves Chris Pratt, so it was a good excuse to purchase this and check out the Eye/Ear candy.

This PQ is pretty fantastic. Sharp, great detail, and solid, tight colors which shine with great vibrancy when called for.
This is some demo worthy stuff.

The sound... the sound on this made me realize how poor the AQ is on some recent discs I've purchased are - especially Disney. The soundstage is wide and has a lot of depth. Bass is full and tight. Everything is perfectly balanced.

Just keeping this review quick - if you like the movie, you can't go wrong with the UHD. If you dont like the movie but love Eye/Ear candy, you also can't go wrong with this disc.

I’m sure this has been asked but does the digital copy redeem in UHD anywhere? Thanks!

I think Jurassic World [HDR10] (shot on film) and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom [DV] (shot digitally) are Universal's best 4K presentations so far in these two formats. Still wished the original Jurassic Park had a 'Mummy' type transfer but it's good enough.

I'm wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to how iTunes can have this in Atmos when the physical release is DTS:X?

Did they create a separate mix, or is it possible to convert from one to the other?

The control room scenes in Jurassic World looks kind of ugly to me, but yeah I agree the rest of it looks wonderful. Definitely two great discs overall.

Universal has a deal to include DTS:X on major disc releases but there is no streaming version of the format so they all get some form of Dolby.
