I'm definitely buying the Sony but the more I think about it, I can see myself grabbing the SC for £18 anyway to tide me over until the new year. Then eBay-ing that sucker when the Sony rolls into town. I'll make a chunk of my money back.

Tis one of my fave action movies after all and it's got snow in it yo. Would be almost rude not to watch it over the Christmas holiday

If it didn’t cost so much and take so long to import I definitely would buy the SC release and the Sony but I figure I’ll have a ton of discs to watch this fall then of course the titles that haven’t been announced yet for Christmas.

I won't be Rossing on this, I can and will wait for the Sony version as I've got no pressing need to run out and get it.

I'd probably do that if this Fall weren't so packed with releases already. There's so much coming out though it's almost a blessing to push this a couple months.

They have not confirmed the Sony has the original audio mix, just "exclusive atmos"
I want the original audio mix, and it may be a different master.

It looked like it was made out of cast pot metal and it cracked. It’s what happens when one buys made in China.

Another reason to get the StudioCanal is that it might have a remastered BD as well, whereas I bet the Sony does not. Not that I care about that personally, but some might.

Bingo. They're marketing the new standard blu-ray release as a "brand new restoration" as well so that'll be the disc included with da new release.

That being the case, I'll bet cash money that the actual HDR grade and Atmos mix of Cliffhanger will be identical, but the encoding may well be different between the two and picking Sony over StudioCanal isn't even a choice that needs making, there's only one way to go.
Ah, I thought that the new 4K UHD codecs meant that the encoding couldn’t be messed up so easily now, but I guess not. Sony should definitely be a safer bet than SC then.
