I’ll be looking forward to watching my SF Manhunter and Criterion SOTL before this comes out.

I’m really curious how this will turn out.

Interesting development. My least favorite of the Hannibal movies (let's pretend Hannibal Rising doesn't exist) but I think I might bite. I still have my 2-disc DVD edition for the extras.

I'll take all of the Hannibal movies on UHD, please! Even Hannibal Rising, which never got a blu!

I'll never forget seeing this in the theater and a guy in front of me (who had been talking with his girlfriend loudly most of the movie) shouted "OOOH, that's LARRY OATER!" when Ray Liotta first appeared onscreen.

Hannibal has actually aged pretty well. Definite Day One for me.

Default Awesome.

Perfect opportunity to toss out the crappy BD. And good to see Kino on board.

Such an underrated film. Day 1 purchase for me! No more stretched blu-ray.

So, who does Kino fall under? Is it MGM? I'm always so confused by these sub-studios, and who owns home distribution rights and whatnot.

Like, when are we getting RoboCop and Terminator on 4K blu-ray?

Kino is an independent home video label; MGM doesn't own it. "Manhunter" is still currently with Shout. With "Robocop" many are assuming that it will be Arrow's first splash into UHD but nothing is confirmed and just speculation. Terminator is unknown at the moment but is rumored to be with Shout (unfortunately).

This is great and completely unexpected news. When Hannibal was first released, I remember the, almost expected, backlash against it for not being as good as The Silence of the Lambs, but I think especially over time, it has emerged as one of the better Lecter stories along with Manhunter and the 1991 Oscar winner.

I will certainly be buying this as soon as possible, particularly with the hope that Kino will release other titles on UHD BD, as well.

They currently have one more UHD planned for Summer. If both of these sell good enough then we'll see a Man With No Name box set.

[Show spoiler]

Does the citing of SDR grading confirm a remastered blu-ray? I can practically smell one through the glass!

Any speculation for what the summer title may be?

Nothing so far but I'm personally betting on that it's going to be another MGM title that hasn't been with a boutique label yet (Such as Hannibal) or "Charley Varrick". I say "Charley Varrick" because it's getting a brand new 4K master and it's planned for the Summer.
