Finally received my copy, the slipcase is so shiny and cool. Very happy to have double dipped.
Also, funny story: I made a pre-order for this item from DeepDiscount before they made it clear discount codes don't apply to pre-orders. I even accidentally ordered two copies of it. Then both were cancelled without a reason, and after two emails where they told me the relevant department needed to look at it, my third chaser went ignored.
Then a couple of weeks ago out of the blue I got a shipping notification, and today it's in my hands. Still need to check what price was honored. But yeah, not the best service.

It really is a superb production, all of the footage is blended very well and most of the time you cannot tell the difference.

Honestly, there is no difference from any modern film which are completely shot in a room with blue screens.

This is the same. Everything is executed to a very high degree of technical mastery.

The film remains popular not just because it an engrossing and entertaining film but also because it supremely well made from a production point of view. The sets and costumes and design elements are stunning literally in every single shot. There is a lot to see in every frame. Don't worry you will have a lot to look at in the background as well as the foreground.
I still feel like scenes of the waters turning into blood and Moses with Pharaoh and son looking over the works on the city could have been handle better (visually speaking).
Even the 4k HDR upgrade can't change that.

a) Not a die-hard fan, but I enjoy the film.
b) I only have a 55" 3D Sony Bravia which does a good job with 4K upscaling of Blu content. I pass on 4K titles using existing masters I already own, but pounce on new OCN scans of my favorite films presented in 4K.
c) No, not plenty of dough to spend. I've often had to choose between 4K and 3D releases of new releases, and will almost always choose the 3D releases, importing them if I have to. I don't buy both.

Again I wouldn't bother with it. Especially considering you don't have the latest 4K tv with Dolby Vision, you're better off sticking with the bluray if you already own it

those things makes me angry...thats why Im refusing to use any streaming and digital codes as they can block you anytime because your computer is outdated (or wathever).

Just working out the problem is to much time-wasting and not worth.

I rewatched Ben-Hur too. Comparing these two films, I now find, the Ten Commandments relatively more re-watchable. Because of the way it is shot including acting and dialogues (old fashioned/vintage charm), it makes the film unique

Ben-Hur, of course, is great too w/ Messala as one of the cruelest villains of all time, however, there is too much "grief" in it (relatively speaking)

For those keeping track of such things, numbers coming in from last week have TEN COMMANDMENTS jumping up to #5 in overall disc sales -- with the 4K disc accounting for 50% of all units sold!

Also watched both for Easter.

I'm on and forever will be on Team Ben-Hur.

Apples and oranges comparing Ben-Hur to TTC. Like directly comparing 2001 to Star Wars.

TTC sometimes borders on camp. That was DeMille's style, somewhat overly dramatic performances.

I will always enjoy TTC but Ben-Hur is by far the better film IMO.

I just want to say I love The Ten Commandments, but given a choice it's Ben-Hur. Ten Commandments is a classic but there's some classics I like better than others.

Only thing Ben Hur and TTC have in common is the main actor.

Nothing wrong with being on Team Ben-Hur as it has quite a few memorable moments ... Earlier I probably rated it higher (as it is also among the first names that would pop up in your mind when thinking about epics) but after my last viewing, I would rate Ben-Hur relatively low on re-watchability esp. for "grief" and some sequences that may appear dated at times

The Ten Commandments is so good that even I am willing to bury my atheism for 232 minutes.

Talking about historical epics in general, my top pick is Lawrence of Arabia. Great direction, visually striking cinematography, legendary background score, etc.

Among foreign language films, probably Kurosawa's RAN. It is a tragedy but more relatable. The scene below is class esp. since it highlights the horrors (not heroics) of the war:

For other films, the boundaries begin to diminish as they are all very close. TTC feels unique because of its vintage charm, Spartacus has that no BS direction from Kubrick which makes it hold up well even today, and so on!

...can we really classify TTC as an historical epic?

Is it an epic? Yes, certainly and without doubt. I believe the term "historical" implies non-fictional however.

For people that may have differing beliefs than your own? Sure.

Moses is a historical figure. Just ask any Jew or Christian.

I agree with you on this. The non-believers always trying to belittle someone else's faith.
