Like others have stated before, this movie really feels like it is on some cartoon level stuff. The way the story plays out, the characters, some of the action scenes. Everything is just so shallow and horribly predictable, not to mention a departure from the previous movies in overall tone. I honestly can't give you any more detailed examples, as I lost my interest before the movie was over. And that only happens when I really dislike something. I really would need to watch it again in order to mention everything that made it bad to me.

I will give this another shot sometime though, just not in the near future.

Owen had development. He started off as a fun-loving guy and a big of a jerkass with a touch of cynicism, not too different from how Ian Malcolm was in the first JP movie. Just like Malcolm, he got more cynical and jaded following the events of Jurassic World, not trusting anyone after he was used by his superiors, and witnessing his hard work raising the raptors go down the drain. You can see in the beginning of Fallen Kingdom that he refused to go back to Isla Nublar because he wanted to run away from his previous life and leave everything behind him. But after going through his vlogs of his earlier days, and Claire guilting him to go with her, he decided to man up and face his nightmares once again by reconnecting with Blue. And just to mirror the ending of the last movie, where he wanted Blue to leave him and live on her own, this time, he decided to accept his responsibility by letter her stay with him, but due to the events they went through, Blue chose to stay free instead of living the rest of her life locked in a cage.

I'll be fine not watching them. Anyway, I know you're trolling but I think we'll still just have to agree that me and your troll-self have different criteria for what makes a film good or bad.

On a related note, I have noted an interesting trend in moviegoers where a film is only as good as the amount of callbacks it contains to earlier entries in the franchise or source material. Even a terrible movie can get a good audience score if the filmmakers spend as much time as possible winking at the audience and saying "hey, remember this!"

There's this trope called "Reality is Unrealistic," which is when people claim that something they see in a movie is cartoonishly unrealistic or exaggerated, when it actually isn't. For example, the part when they transfused Rexy's blood into Blue's despite them being different species may sound far-fetched, but it is actually something that happens in real life. It's called xenotransfusion.

You're missing the entire point. This is the final time we will ever see Isla Nublar on screen. The island is gone, and it would make sense to have callbacks to the original, to pay respect to where it all began. In addition to moving the franchise forward in a new direction, it's also a celebration of the past, being that it came out near the first movie's 25th Anniversary. Consider the fact that unlike some franchises, Jurassic Park was in hiatus for years, stuck in development hell, where we weren't sure we would ever get anything more out of it. Jurassic World also made references to the original, but it made sense to. It was the return to a franchise after 14 long years, and a return to where it all began.

Because movies aren't the same as the hidden objects pictures in Highlights children's magazines. I typically don't get my entertainment from all the references I spot in a movie, though I do admit that it makes for good youtube fodder.

Pixar and Disney movies put in little references to their back catalog all the time, but do you mind that?

I loved the dinosaur stuff. And this is a dinosaur movie. So I'm good. In the end, I am satisfied enough.

I almost cried when the
[Show spoiler]brachiosaurus
died, but BDH's over acting cryface ruined it for me, or maybe her reaction just felt drawn out. Otherwise, I love her. I really do. That Howard family is something else.

I still think one of the best shots in the entire series is the Mosasaurus at the beach. It's a shame that we will probably never see the outcome of that scene. Rather than show they will probably just tell us.

Of course not. References and callbacks can be fun, particularly in childrens films. It also helps when the movie can stand on its own merits.

I can bet that most criticisms people have had towards Fallen Kingdom can be easily explained by either paying more attention to the movie, or having more knowledge about what they're criticizing.

Or perhaps it could be that some people just don't like it, period.

Just some friendly advice, and I'm not trying to attack you here, but perhaps you should try being less defensive and not try to "convince" others why they should like a certain movie. You did the same thing in TLJ threads.

Nothing wrong with a little discussion but you're taking this too seriously I think. Different people have different taste. You can't make them like something.

Yep yep yep. Filching a few things from the original book -
[Show spoiler]cloned daughters, secret partners we never heard about, yet another retcon about where the Dinos were REALLY made and comedy accents
aside - is all well and good but the movie still has to DO something with all that stuff, to tell a compelling story and not just check things off of a list. Die Another Day borrowed several key plot points from the original Moonraker novel while the Moonraker film did entirely its own thing, did that somehow legitimise DAD and make it an all-time Bond classic? Did it bollocks.

Oh, I would so love it if JW3/JP6 stops with all the ****ing callbacks.

I know the plot and title of the next Jurassic World film.

With dinosaurs unleashed on the world, humanity has one desperate chance to correct their mistakes born from hubris and greed...time-travel. InGen scientists have cracked the temporal dimensional vortex, they convince Owen to bring Blue in as the world's first time-travelling dinosaur. Her mission? To hunt and kill Dodson before he delivers the can of Barbasol to Dennis Nedry. Something goes terribly wrong, and Blue is instead sent to Transylvania during the reign of Count Dracula. Blue fights and destroys Dracula, but is bitten by the Count and becomes an undead raptor vampire. Human history is irrevocably altered, as the fanged undead cape-wearing velociraptor wreaks havoc across millennia, creating a legion of dinosaur/human/vampire hybrids. Blue returns to the InGen Labs, turns everyone into a dinosaur/human/vampire hybrid, then uses the time travel technology to go farther back in time, biting and transforming all carnivorous dinosaurs into vampires. They mock the asteroid that strikes the Yucatan. Secluded in a world blocked from the sun, the undead dinosaur vampires take dominion over the Earth.

JURASSIC WORLD: NOSFERAPTOR
June 2020.
