I don't think anyone can say with certainty, but all releases in the last 17 or 18 years have had this same geometry more or less. In fact the very old Anchor bay release from 20 years ago had the picture even thinner than the later DVD, blu rays, and first 4K UHD releases. It's a bit jarring to see the change on this latest release, but it's possible that all the previous ones were wrong. I wouldn't bet on it though.

The only thing we can say with certainty is that the aspect ratio on the new UHD is correct. But if that was achieved by stretching the picture that's a problem.

It wasn’t ultra-low-budget, it was moderate/low. Carpenter was able to get it finished on time and thus not go over budget, ensuring that he would have access to high-quality cameras and lenses. It was shot on 35mm and finished at MGM labs. That’s why it looks so good—not because Shout did something amazing with it, apart from going back to the OCN this time. Any film of its vintage that used the same equipment and processing should look as good as Halloween does.

It's a shame, for all their flaws and errors.. We wouldn't have half of these horror movies on blu ray or 4k, let alone with the ton of brand new supplements if it wasn't for companies like Scream factory.

1. You say you have never seen Halloween.

2. How do you own the Lionsgate 4K if you’ve never seen Halloween?

3. The Lionsgate release is $23 to $25 Before tax and shipping. The new one is $27. Literally at most three to four dollars difference. If that’s a problem then you have bigger things to worry about than entertainment. It is your money but this is ridiculous.

4. Scream Factory is three discs… including the original 1978 mono from the original elements, new Atmos mix, the extended version, and more extras.

If you want the best value then the Scream release is it. It just sounds like you want to be “part of the cool kids” and dump on this/disparage it just because. I find it a nice upgrade to my box set release and am more than happy with it.

Probably hoping to keep it sealed so then he can flip it when the slips go out of print lol.

Still don't understand the logic in paying premium prices for the best version of a film you've never seen. Find a dvd or blu ray, stream or TV airing.. Watch it.. If you like it, then weigh up if its worth 30 dollars. If you're not in love with it then no movie is worth 30 dollars

My main gripe with these covers Is H2.. Warlock wore the collar up through the whole movie and close to his neck.. I don't think I recall a scene where the collar was down like in this artwork

While sorting through this I noticed that all the special features that carry over from the 35th anniversary edition are all a lower bitrate then what's on that version.
Not a huge gap, but I figured I'd point it out.

It is streaming on Shudder, first seven days are free for new users. $5 a month afterwards. You can even Google promo codes and get it cheaper.
