I ordered 2-5 from them. They shipped early, but naturally the USPS is running late yet again, as usual. Side note, I truly HATE USPS tracking. It's fine so long as there are no delays (increasingly rare). But once the initial ETA comes and goes, you're lucky if you get one update per day that literally only says "running late", and that it's still "on the way". Useless.

Yep. Halloween is set to arrive on 10/11, III & 4 on 10/14, and 5 on 10/27.

I ordered my from Amazon, and they haven’t shipped yet. My local Best Buy doesn’t seem to have ‘em in stock. I’m patient, so I don’t mind waiting for them to ship. I might order them directly from Shout! Factory and which ever order ships first, I’ll just get a refund. Besides Amazon is definitely cheaper than Shout! Factory.

If he wrote it in a drunken stupor the night before, why didn't he realize how "poor" it was the next day? Why did he submit it after he sobered up if he just scribbled it out when he was drunk? And writing a script when you're drunk is not what I would consider professional.

I'm sorry, but his excuse never worked for me. He wrote it, he filmed it, it's canon, and people watched it for decades. Then he came up with an excuse of why he didn't like it and wrote it out in H18. I'm not a fan of any of that tomfoolery.

And many still like Halloween II just as it is.

Not only that, but he attached his name to it. It is personal regret/second guessing and nothing more. It reminds me of bands that tried something different where it failed and they either pretend it never existed or come up with an excuse like they werent in the right frame of mind at the time. Or there were studio mandates and they had to rush the process or write an album just to finish off a contract. But sometimes those things actually turn out alright. Not on par with what they would have put out with more time and more focus.. H2 tonally fits alongside the first film, even if he just did it for a check. H18… can’t even say that. People complained of H20 being a Scream clone. H20 might as well be Wolf Creek.

I do miss just a tiny bit of the chunkier grain from the IP on the older 35th Anniversary Blu-ray (from Boxed Set with proper mono), but there's still plenty of fine grain swirling around to make me happy.

This was my third time through the new 4K disc, and my second time watching it as an actual movie instead of skipping around and pixel peeping. I believe fairly passionately that if you're a fan of this movie, you're missing out if you dig your heels in on the compression issues or the filtered mono. To my eyes, the disc looks beautiful in motion (yes, I pulled out that old chestnut), and the mono is as glorious as its been for the past twenty years: not ideal, but definitely "feeling" a whole lot more like the Halloween I grew up on than any revisionist surround mixes.

And man, what a crowd-pleaser. My friends were aware I'd gotten the new 4K disc, but they're not into this stuff as much as I am, and I didn't make a big deal out of it. But wow, they kept commenting throughout about the gorgeous colors and detail, seeing things they'd never seen before. After they left, I popped in the old 35th Anniversary disc on a whim, and it just seemed so drab and lifeless.

This release is a home run for me. I realize there are valid complaints, and I'm not faulting anyone for feeling disappointment if these are issues that really "pop" for you. But I guess the particular problems of this disc aren't the things that tend to rankle me personally, like edge enhancement or DNR. All I want is original audio (check!) and an image that looks nice 'n' textured like a film print, when projected onto my 92-inch screen (check!)

We were lucky enough to have a rare thunderstorm here in L.A. tonight that set the mood perfectly, and against that backdrop the new 4K disc was an unqualified hit.

I hope the masks they were wearing were of the William Shatner type!

Unforgiven is the exact disc that got me to do the same thing. Funny, I had completely forgotten about adjusting that setting and that I have that service remote lying around somewhere.

And it's not only the quick jumps back to brightness that drove me nuts; the dark scenes got SO dark because of the dimming that it made those scenes unwatchable. Once I turned ABL off, everything was great. No brightness jumps and no dimming dark scenes. If I ever upgrade my set, shutting ABL off is the first thing I'll be doing.

Yep, I literally couldn't see much of the movie, it was completely unwatchable on my C7, then I had the same response on my CX after upgrading. All good now, though. That disc looks awesome with the correct settings, even if I had to go into the service menu to get there.

The compression artifacting is really obvious on the Scream disc there, looking at the house.
