If you are trying in Dolby Vision, you are probably wasting your time, LOL.

Most folks who have posted about the Dolby Vision version seem to think it is a pretty fantastic looking disc (and the reviews seem to agree). If that's because Dolby Vision corrects the flaws, covers them up, who knows - frankly, I don't care, LOL - because it looks beautiful, with inky blacks and is a great filmic experience.

However, based on the reports here, unfortunately it seems that the HDR10 version doesn't fare nearly as well. It's a shame, because that seems to be too common.

It's actually the reason I bought a stand-alone player finally awhile back - I was using my XBOX Series X, but it doesn't do Dolby Vision. I realized that if I was spending this kind of scratch on 4K discs ($135 for these Halloween movies alone!), I want to get the most out of them as I could. It was the best $200 I've spent since I got my first Blu-ray player a dozen years ago.

I've seen Dolby Vision drastically change the presentation - one example, Game of Thrones, S8 - the infamously dark-shot "The Long Night" episode. In HDR10, it looked horrible - worse than just streaming off of HBO Max. Artifacts like I had never seen on a Blu-ray period before, let alone 4K. Then once I upgraded to Dolby Vision? It was night and day difference, no pun intended.

So I don't doubt at all that the same thing could happen here - I've definitely seen it myself on other titles.

Dude, please just stop. We get it. You hate the new disc and want the Lionsgate to have your children. Honestly, what's our endgame with endlessly posting here JUST to trash the release? Convince everyone here that it sucks as much as you think it does so we all burn our copies? Just go enjoy the previous release, and let those of us who prefer the new one enjoy what we will. There's truly more to life than the umpteenth release of this film. You've been doing the same song and dance here for nearly two weeks. It's painfully obvious that you're just trolling the thread. He has no endgame. He just loves the sound of his keyboard. His posts make no sense at best, and are just nonsense at worst.

I want to make sure my color is right. Is the street sign Green on your setup? When Laurie is singing on the sidewalk?

Was setting up the projector for another movie, but decided to pop this disc in to check the sign for you. Yup... interesting catch... that railroad-crossing sign is definitely a very weird yellow/green. Not a big deal, but definitely a bit of a "colorist error", I'd say. Certainly don't worry about your own color being off -- that sign is weird, for sure.

This disc and Halloween II are absolutely mint imo, I can't decide which is better but they're both a 5/5 presentation. The last time I saw Halloween was the 35th Anniversary Shout disc, which I sold earlier this year for $5. Halloween II was a crumby DVD version, so I was very impressed watching both, felt like a brand new experience. Anyone on the fence about these discs, don't be! This is as safe a buy as you can get in movies. At $25 each, it's a great value, I've bought plenty of trash movies this year for the same price (Lawnmower Man 2, Return to Salem's Lot etc.).

I was content with the prior 4k of halloween but damn, I may have to get the overpriced scream one! God, I've bought so many different versions of this film!

Wow, it's that bad? I only watched it in dv and if dv covered that up or the hdr was borked then that's fd up.

They put no attention into the HDR10 presentation of this film, and clearly focused only on Dolby Vision. Great if you have Dolby Vision, not so great if you don't.
Has anyone reached out to shout about the hdr?

There are instances of actual HDR10 errors (and Dolby Vision errors) but I think it's far more common that people buy TVs/projectors with poor HDR and then HDR10 doesn't compensate for that like DV does.

Many of the early reviews of UHDs on this site are plagued by people with low-nit early screens bashing discs for being too dark or faded, when they really weren't, it was their setup.

He really should stop trying to ruin everyone's enjoyment of a release with those "OK guys in case you all haven't seen such error here it is again! LOL this release IS A JOKE . JUST LOOK AT THISE COLORS and by the way, the sequels are so bad but I'm still posting in their threads THE COMPRESSION IS SOOO BAD dude LOL" posts in almost every page.

That's why I waited until I could afford a nicer setup and DV before I took the 4K plunge.

Does Amazon give any issue for sending back opened movies? I got mine in the mail but the case was damaged. I got my replacement, but with the scratched disc issue, I’d like to open both copies and make sure the discs look ok. If not, I’d take the disc from the other package, since I’m sending it back anyway.

I got my Sony in 2017 to this day most budget TVs still DON'T come with local dimming or deep blacks so. Yeah HDR doesn't do a hell of a lot with a vanilla budget TV. As a consumer, you gotta compare TVs at https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x900e they are informative.
