DV looks great. HDR10 has bad compression issues. We've gone on for days and days about it. It's literally ALL that's been discussed.

I wish I could bend..I'm old now. Enjoy your youth. How is 24fps correct? I notice our old WIDESCREEN DVD is 29.9 what is with that? You know everything I think the DVD TV cut also said 29.9 but I'm tired now...

Yeah, I clung to using my XBOX Series X as a 4K UHD player as long as I could. Especially since they finally enabled audio pass through. I really did not want another box in my house.

Unfortunately, though, even though it does Dolby Vision for games and streaming, they don't for 4K Blu-rays. If I knew then what I know now, that would have been a deal-breaker in and of itself (since, like this release, so many are just superior experiences in DV).

In addition to that, they don't update the software very often, and I was having comparability issues. I have several discs that the Series X won't even recognize, yet play flawlessly in a stand-alone player. I also would have occasional glitch-outs on longer discs, but haven't encountered any of those problems since I switched over.

Basically, I had to admit that as much as I love my Series X, I just had to accept her faults, LOL. I mean, if I'm back to spending $30 a title for movies, I want to get the best out of them that I can. A stand-alone player was the best upgrade I've done since I got my first Blu-ray player to begin with. 4K has been an overall great experience since I did.

Because 24fps was the actual shooting speed. 29.97 is an NTSC video standard. 23.976 is an HD video standard. There is nothing wrong with actually having the movie on the disc at an even 24fps. It is, in fact, the actual shooting speed of the film. Don’t believe me? Rip an old DVD at 29.97 and scan ahead frame by frame. You’ll see that frames are duplicated to compensate for having a frame rate that fast. That’s why people convert down to the lower framerate when they make digital files. All programs like handbrake do is remove the added frames and spit out the original FPS. Which is 24. With BD, 23.976 was spec and required for player compatibility. UHD doesn’t have that limitation.

Yo I've been speculating the same exact thing for a long time. Some posts/posters here are reaaaaaaaaaaaaal real suspect sometimes, like forreally really. Especially when releases have glaring issues yet any and all critics get absolutely annhilated and ostracized. And it ain't just Shout, I experienced it myself here once on a Universal UHD. I got bullied so much I almost felt in middle school all over again.

Not sure whether some folks here are plain as*holes, throw-their-money-at-everything-that-moves-rich or paid emloyees. Safest bet would be a mix.

Regardless, I'm absolutely certain that a forum as big as this has blu-ray companies' employees planted to shift public opinion and increase sales. I mean it's a well-known sneaky lil marketing tactic implemented all over the internet nowadays.

Default My UHD Halloween experience is currently on hold…

Waiting for Halloween 5 which is being shipped, 4 is still processing at Barnes and Noble even though they said it was in stock online, and 3 is out of stock at the moment. I might have to endure the blu ray only versions of 3 and beyond for the time being (lmao at that statement) until the leprechaun delivers the gold.

I vowed to myself I would only buy I and II.

Today III and 4 came in the mail, so I’ve officially got all 5 in my possession.

Oh, I'm right there with you. I had pretty much talked myself out of any of them right away, and deciding I was just going to wait for a sale or some sort of BOGO offer from Target or something.

Then the early Best Buy stock happened - so I went one night and got H1. Next day they had H2. Drove back, got that one. LOL.

At that point, with a week to go, and how awesome the packaging was and how good the discs looked, I realized, heck, I really need 4 and 5 then.
Got those on release day.

And finally, yesterday, H3 arrived. I really wasn't going to grab that one (I think I've seen it all the way through once, on VHS, 25 years ago, and I might have even ffwd through), but then it looked like that one was running out everywhere...so I ended up getting that one, too.

Yes, a sucker is born every minute haha - they totally got me. I can't believe I just forked over $130 in a week span for these discs, but I did. And I don't regret it, either. It really has ignited an new and deeper appreciation for the series that I didn't always have. I mean, I've always liked it, I've read books about them, etc. - but revisiting it like this has been a blast. Especially since I don't have the previous box set, so all the extras are "new to me".

Glad I'm not the only one who jumped in head first, LOL.
