I'm glad to own both transfers as far as this new one and the 2013 are concerned. My preferred cut is the extended cut so that's the one I watch on Halloween night but now I have this new BD of the theatrical cut that I'll watch earlier in the month from now on as well. If you're concerned about the quality of the extended cut though I strongly recommend you go with the far superior Italian release as far as that cut is concerned.
Which Italian release? Hate how compressed the extended cut is on this release and how meh it is on the 15 disc set

Dang really, so no one snatched this up for an improved 45th anniversary release even? What a shame and surprise honestly.

Still can't get over them wasting disc space on something like the 2007 color timing which we know to not be original

This is something that has long frustrated me with Scream Factory because every time they do this all it does is confuse the marketplace. I can't tell you how many reviews and unboxings I've seen of this release where people are confused/upset thinking that the 3rd disc is the actual original color timing and then blast the 4K disc and the Blu Ray with the 4K transfer as being inaccurate without even watching it or doing any research on it.

I understand Scream wants to cater to those consumers who want to have that specific transfer, but people are going to hang onto that 2007 BD release anyway because it has the Criterion commentary track which this set lacks. So, it's not even like they're saving people some shelf space by including it. The time it took for them to include that transfer would have been better served doing a new pass on the original mono audio track to improve it.

I won't ever break up the Shout hardcover eight grabbing them all was a good memory went through hell getting flawless discs on some of them, but agree with GeoffD I will buy a better Halloween 1 set in a second and put those discs into the Shout set. Probably would rebuy II as well with a new titty job.

I threw out the hideous hardcover, flipped the artwork around, and put the slip from the Anchor Bay 40th anniversary edition on the Shout edition. Shout/Scream artwork is comically bad 90% of the time. I can't believe people think otherwise.

Does anyone know why Halloween 2, Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch and Halloween 6: The Curse Of Michael Myers have never had a Blu-Ray release in the UK?

I know people can invest in region free players but it’s a shame for people that either don’t want one or can’t afford one to miss out on having all the Halloween films on Blu-ray.

For people living in the UK wanting all the Halloween films on physical you would need to have the ancient DVD copies of Halloween 2, Halloween 3 and Halloween 6.

It’s baffling because Halloween is one of the most popular and famous horror franchises of all time.. it’s not like they wouldn’t sell in the UK.

I'm not sure how all the rights stuff works regarding US vs overseas releases but I have to say I find it shocking that someone like Arrow hasn't done their own releases/remasters for at least the first 3 Halloween films.

I'm not sure exactly what happened but I believe Arrow did have the rights to the original film at one point. Oh, what could have been!

Forgive me if you know this, but you're in the 4k section and 4k discs are region free. Just an FYI in case you didn't know.

I just received H1,H2, and H3 direct from Shout today and they have Slipcases but they appear to be smaller slipcases than the ones in the H2O boxset. Is this a new run of slimmer slipcases? The H4 and H5 I bought from Amazon to save a few bucks have normal slipsleeves, and Shout's site specifically says the slipboxes sold out on H4 and H5. Any insights to the changes in packaging?

You have a picture? I've never heard or saw these getting a different style slip box, just slipcovers.

In taking comparison pictures they are actually the same height as the ones in the H2O boxset after all. They initially looked shorter and thinner. I do not have the original run to compare to as I waited until now to get them. The only reason i ordered from Shout is that the product image showed the Slipbox where the image for 4 and 5 did not and they were on sale for $21 at the time. I took a chance that the product image gets changed based on the packaging. I guess I am somehow lucky to get slipbox versions.

I decided to give the Atmos another spin on this and had to turn it off and go back to the mono. Damn they nuked the mix by making the music too loud huh, there's certain scenes where I can hardly hear the dialogue compared to the mono mix, a good example is Laurie and Tommy walking to school where Tommy asks her all the questions. And why did Shout transcode this mono mix? So it's actually the same mix from the DVD in a lossless container? That Bad Audio on Blu ray blog said the 2014 Shout disc is actually lossless. lol why Shout do dis? Either way, dang, the mono mix is really the only track worth listening to on the UHD regardless. The UHD sequels got way better original mixes for sure.

Halloween is a fantastic film but I won’t buy 5 versions (Scream/Lionsgate/French/German/Italian) releases just for unique special features. I’ll just stick with Scream Factory.

I’ve got two editions. The Scream Factory 4K edition for the superior overall presentation (color grading, supplements, multiple cuts, audio options) and the Lionsgate 4K for the superior encode and the supplements from the 2007 Blu-ray (despite detesting that ugly 2007 transfer).

Technically I think the Lionsgate is the better disc, but the SF has the “prettier” transfer. I find myself alternating between the two for viewing the film.

Also… I appear on-screen with JLC for a couple of seconds on the Horrorhound bonus feature.
