That Imprint set has the potential to be the best release for these films just based on the FIM encodes alone.

As a devout Halloween fan with more cash on hand than sense, I placed an order (although it was after the initial "sell out"), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these discs turn out to be high quality...

Yes, it’s guaranteed at this point. Unless the original film has weak audio, and then somehow Arrow comes out with their own FiM-encoded release with better, restored mono audio for that one and, like, their packaging for each film is somehow better in whatever way.

The only reason I'm not saying it's guaranteed is because there's some debate in the thread for the set whether the transfers are the ones Shout did, or if they're using the Lionsgate transfers.

My assumption, since they're including all of Shout's extras, would be that they're using their transfers as well, just with FIM doing the encoding.

Now if Arrow does in fact have the rights, I'd be happy to see what they bring to the table. We've got the 25 Years of Terror documentary included, but I don't think any of the extras from that set (aside from the Horror's Hallowed Grounds episode for the first film) is included. Nor is the Inside Story documentary...

There isn’t really any serious debate. The Lionsgate logo isn’t on the first film’s 4K disc. It is on the sequels (or at least on II and III) because Lionsgate is the licensor of those in that region. There is just one person who seemingly wants to believe these discs will be crap. There is no evidence supporting that belief.

Imprint’s listing says they’re using the 4K remaster taken from the original camera negative, which would be Shout’s transfer. Lionsgate’s was from the interpositive.
