i noticed a few thing but in no way did it take away from the experience
It’s by far the best version of Superman
And , it’s a different experience on the big screen
Ever since I was a little kid, it was always viewed on a tv, little one

Them putting all the dialogue into the centre when remixing is one thing, but when did having directional sound effects become an aural crime?
Which soundtracks are lossless- both remix and "70mm mix"?

70mm is Dolby Digital 5.1. Remix is lossless TrueHD + Atmos.

I watched this last night and have to say it met my expectations (in a good way). Some of the subtle, finer detail I was seeing for the first time ever. I was also fine with the color timing. The Krypto-suits looked good to me - I think I prefer them this way versus the BD where they just seemed a little overdone. Yes, the vertical bars are rather evident at the closing are pretty bad really but for me, not a huge issue although Warner should probably fix this via replacement (without screwing up something else as Paramount did for Grease). I liked the 5.1 track although it should have been lossless in this day and age.

I remember seeing this in a packed house opening weekend on a Saturday night Ranks right up there as one of the best, if not the best,in theater experiences for a movie for me. The crowd was so into it..the applause throughout...WOW. The opening credits got to everyone. You have to remember that the crowd, myself included, grew up with the simpler Superman from DC and not the hardcore characters of today's comics. This was a simpler time for movies too. Big screen SE and surround sound was in it's childbirth. Needless to say, an all time favorite of mine and so glad to see it get the 4K release...

ps: Lost on the home screen but you had to see it on the big screen that night..kicking the football in anger and watching it travel until it disappeared...lol.

No movie builds excitement for what lays ahead then these opening credits do. The way Brando and Hackman's names come towards the screen as the Williams score gets going, it's magical. You'll never see it's like again.

To be fair, Superman of today's comics is still the Superman you know. Its just you know, Zack Snyder.

That's not true at all. The Superman in the comics today is nothing like the Superman from the comics out during 1978. At that point in time, Superman was super silly and super stupid. Krypto, the super dog? Superboy? Jimmy Olsen, Superman's best pal? Give me a break!!! It was like reading Harvey Comics. Superman never really got interesting enough for adults to dig into until after Crisis was over. John Bryne's take on Superman was and still is one of the better runs.

Watched this last night and while I've disagreed with him elsewhere lately I gotta go with Geoff on this one. What a weird, up and down transfer. The gamma and contrast are SO flat much of the time. I get that the old transfers are contrast boosted to some degree, but good lord half the movie on this one just looks lifeless. Then in another scene it'll look great! It's truly odd. It's not the soft, diffuse look of the movie exclusively, it's how Warner have handled that look. I don't agree with Geoff on the Krypton outfits, those looked fine to me, but the heads above them! Flat and lifeless! Ugh!

The matte lines on the ship are obvious and bothered me, same with the weird issue at the end of the film. The color more or less looked fine to me, though I will say the old BD's likely color boosted appearance kind of suits the movie. Still, I had no real issue with the color and it's nice to see the movie not looking too cool in color temp, which the BD definitely is.

Overall I spent the movie alternating between "this looks great" and "this looks like ass" and that's a real bummer.

Seeing as you've had no replies to your bait (lord knows you dangle it often enough whenever people have the temerity to question what they've been offered) I'll be charitable and offer up the preface to my review from earlier in the thread:

I actually shed a few tears during the 'can you read my mind?' scene and not for the reasons that people may think as I've always LOVED that scene. But now that both Margot Kidder and Christopher Reeve have departed this world, suffering their chronic health problems as they did, it's taken on added poignance for me to see them both let loose from terra firma, 'flying' as they are with looks of sheer joy and awed wonderment on their faces (despite how uncomfortable it must've been to film that stuff), I'm even getting a bit emotional again as I type this.
So, now that we've established it's one of the greatest movies ever made whether you're watching in 4K or Betamax - well, duh - we can get on with critiquing the 4K presentation which is what this thread is here for. Ta

I can't remember. It was either this past Saturday night or this past Sunday. It was a pre-order. I know that. To be honest, I don't think I've had any problems with Amazon. I ordered The Matrix Reloaded on October 30th and got it the next day.

I ordered my UHD on Monday at 2300 from amazon.co.uk and it arrived in The Netherlands on Thursday. I have no complaints! I have had only time to watch the first 20 minutes. Played on Xbox One, displayed on LG Oled C version 55 inch, Onkyo 7.1 system. I am not doing a comparison of the Blu-ray, just my thoughts watching the UHD.
Opening credits – Atmos – whoosh whoosh whoosh;
Saw the anomaly at Christopher Reeve’s credit, maybe on purpose?;
Too much grain or digitaal rendering at Kryptonite planet en skyline – looks like ants crawling all over the place!;
Much detail never before noticed in condemnation scene – flashes of light in glass rod from Marlon;
White costumes in Kryptonite are esquisite;
Sometimes Marlon looks a little too tanned;
The blanket/clothing of baby Kal-Elis amazing, colors and texture WOW;
So far NOT disapointed !

actually I am talking about Superman of the 50's and 60's when I was a kid growing up. those Dc comics were great. The introduction of Bizzaro, and the first Justice league comics..awesome stuff. ..and you got a whole story not just one but usually 3 in one comic book.. Unlike today's 3-4 pages of blown up artwork comics...Silly..you mean the TV show..yeah I agree but was it ever popular.I hate to think what some of those original comics I had would be worth today...lol.
