Wink Firmware 4.50

Thank you Tron3 for pointing us in the right direction.

Firmware 4.5

It is as Sony stated here

----------------------------------
Posted: 12/19/2008

Attention owners of BDP-S300, BDP-S301, BDP-S500, and BDP-S2000ES Blu-ray Disc players.

Certain Blu-ray Disc models listed above may experience problems when playing the WALL-E movie in Blu-ray disc format, even after the latest firmware update has been applied.

Sony is aware of this issue and expects to have a firmware update to resolve this issue available at the end of January 2009.

Please check back on this website at that time.

Now is the time

I just watched Wall-E and it played FLAWLESSLY beginning to end. Presto and Burn-e played as well.

Let's hope nothing else broke in the process.

Angry Firmware update 4.50

Sony must have detected the unauthorized downloads -- the FTP links to the new version now point to a site that has been removed by SONY...

Thank you, Jim! I was trying to reach the FTP site using Google Chrome without success. After reading your post, I tried it again using Firefox and -- success!

a question. the s-300 manual says the player can output up to 7.1 audio channels for PCM signals via HDMI. But for Dolby tracks (standard or true hd) and DTS tracks can output only up 5.1 audio channels. I understant if you play a dts track that has 7.1 audio channels the S-300 downmixes to 5.1, is that true? in other words can i play a 7.1 track on s-300 and hearing it like 5.1 but without that the sound is heard phased out? does anyone know?

For me...Not much...Just want to keep up with new firmware incase I run into new BDs or Pc's recorded dvds.

The thing is ...This time, after the FW is done ..It did not reset my player
back to original setup. In the FW folder it said V4.50.
Is it normal.....?

Default DolbyHD with the new update??????????

I have just download the 4.50 update, and works fine. I dont see any change so far. I played the John mayer bd, and set the audio to dolbytrue hd, but my amp onkyo 805, via HDMI, just show "dolby digital ex" and not dolbyhd

The system menu-->setup, doesnt include the option to convert audio to bitstream.....

any help?

Question Have we seen the last in firmware speed tweaks?

Madagascar is currently the SLOWEST loading blu-ray I have for the S300. Taking nearly 2 - 1/2 minutes to load. The last few firmware updates have done nothing to improve this load time.

Has the Tank-S300 finally run out of gas? Will "repair jobs" be the only firmware updates we see from now on?

Mind you, I'd rather have it stay that way than Sony muck with it to tweak the load time and break something else in the process.

Anyone know?
