This is exactly what Buckshot is talking about.

My response...I'm guessing you bought it when it was $299 so why are you complaining about the prices today?! All hardware has gone back up to pre-holiday prices, even HD DUD's.

If you don't like it, exchange it, complaining isn't going to fix it's issues.

If you want the FW upgrade now, then download it and burn a disk. It's available 24/7 for your convenience.

I haven't had a single issue with any movie on mine yet and I have 3.70. Everyone should have 3.70.

I have an S300(301) I paid $277 for at Sam's. Via download, I upgraded the firmware to 3.70 and have absolutely no complaints.

To each his own.

Nope. I paid $550 which included tax and shipping. In addition, I bought it directly from Sony Styles website. I was one of the first to get one. Lastly, Sony should do what Apple did with the iphone....give everyone who purchased the BDP-S300 for $500 (iphone $600) a $100 credit.

Not only does it take like a minute to turn on and open the tray, but you gotta wait another minute or so for the damn movie to start (movies that have Java only) I really wanna stick with Sony, but i also want a Blu-ray player that can bit-stream out DTS HD Master Audio and DD TrueHD. What's going on with the price on this player too. It was $500 when released...then $400...then $300 for the Holiday and now back at $400. If you are deciding to buy a Sony Blu-ray player...I would go with the PS3 over this. PS3 is faster and can decode TrueHD. Lastly, this thing has been acting funny for the last month, and it has firmware 3.30. It's been over a week and Sony still has not sent me firmware update 3.70 as requested. I hope this is the fix to my problem. (i.e. picture and sound cuts out and Blu-rays freeze) I see I am not the only one having this problem either. Two movies with excessive problems include Stomp The Yard and War. I had to restart War like 5 times, which is absolutely unacceptable due to the fact that it is a Java disc.
Why don't you just download the firmware yourself?

I read that you need to download the Firmware update and burn it to a DVD. I don't have any DVD-R's...I only have CD-R's. In addition, their is no selection to download the Firmware update to an Apple.

I burned both my 3.30 and 3.70 updates onto CD-R's.

Works fine.

I don't think you can do it on dvd-r. I think it has to be on cd I believe. I could be wrong but it is very very easy to do and not worth waiting for the mail and sit in frustration imo.

Ok, my bad It is very easy to do though. I seem to notice most of the issues are when people make normal data cds instead of burning the actual image. I used nero 7 and it worked perfectly. Once the disc is burned, there's really very little human input. Just sit and wait and enjoy

How is your player connected to the tv? You may need to calibrate the tv first. I still need to calibrate mine more when my DVE disc gets here.

Discs can be burned ether way, DVD-R or CD-R. I bought mine in June, and I can't complain about anything with this player. Not even the $500 price.

And those that complain about load times, imagine what would happen if downloads take over.

I haven't wated more than 30ish seconds for any movie once the tray closes. Doesn't bother me at all. I know I'm going to be sitting there for 2 hours anyways watching.

As a previous poster said, you can use either DVD's or CD 's for your burn. Just remember to select the burn option, "burn image to disc" or "make disc from image". I'm not familiar with Apple software so I can't guide you. But maybe this will help,

Before you start spouting off about crap you don't understand, how about you try learning and understanding what you're talking about?

Sheesh!

I bought my Sony player for $279 last week. It had firmware 2.70 or something old like that. The load times were horrible. I easily found the blu-ray.com site and there's a firmware download. Takes a few minutes to download, then you just burn to CD-R and put the CD in your player and it automatically updates the firmware for you.

Stop complaining and learn...

Oh, I missed that you have an Apple.. maybe that explains it. LOL!
I just went to the Sony website and it does say to use CD-R's...My fault. I do however remember Sony saying at one time that you must use DVD-R's...I guess they changed that. The firmware update doesn't help the Java capability on the movie War. I just read a post who could not even play War with firmware update 3.70. Im definitely not clueless LOL! Im gonna update to 3.70 now since i can burn it to a CD-R.

UPDATED:
Just downloaded and installed firmware update 3.70 and War now plays perfectly. I also went through a majority of the special features with no problems. I was also able to access the fighting game on the disk...I could not access it with 3.30 b/c it would just freeze.

I've had the S300 for many months now and it works fine. Although to be honest the long load time, no resume play feature and no support for Dolby TrueHD is upsetting. I have the latest firmware 3.70 and like the previous poster said the load time on java movies like Ratatouille is very long. Almost a minute. I'm happy with the player but I hope the next firmware fixes many of the missing features that a player like this should have.

And Yes, you can burn downloaded firmware on CD-R and DVD-R.

PS: Blu-ray rules and Apple rules.

Maybe there will be another firmware release soon then since WAR just came out and these fixes seem geared towards fixing glitches for certain movies. Ratatouille for me clocked in around 35 seconds ro so to load.
