Got my player today and installed the new firmware and wow, this thing is 100x faster than my HDDVD player.

I now see why everyone likes Blu better.

Have you updated your HD DVD player to v2.8 FW? (EP10/A20 & XE1/XA2)

I own both the EP10 & XE1 and with v2.8 FW they are as fast as my s300 - except of course when playing BDj discs, then they are 3x fatser!! (those 3 min load times suck!!).

Thought I'd give the Sony a try. Bought the last unit at HHGregg today. Checked the firmware and it came installed with 3.7. Nice to have the latest build.

Will all titles play 1080i with component cables with this unit? If you use component under video settings do you still chose YCBCr/RGBPC (hdmi)

Can't choose HDMI if you are using component. I run component to HD inputs on my TV. Component will only give 1080i max, but more importantly the TV must support HD component.

I have a quick question to ask of my blu-ray brothers and sisters:
I have my BDP-S300 connected to the Onkyo 605. Should I set the audio (hdmi) on the BDP-S300 to Auto or PCM? Thank you in advance guys...

What is so hard about "Just use the one you have and it will work fine." to understand?

Actually, he did. However, I'll re-phrase the answer for you. Yes - your HDMI 1.3 cables will work fine since each successive HDMI version is fully compatible with all preceeding versions of HDMI.

Does this mean current firmware version 3.7 could decode dolby trueHD and send over HDMI ? I will need a new receiver to decode trueHD then.

Thanks Jason.
