i am going to try and do his firmware update. he DL it and burned it, but it did not work? so i will try again my way. thanks

Make sure it was burned as an image. CDRs worked better for me than DVDr

When you say you burned the disk, did you burn the "image" onto the disk?

ya i know as i read all the instructions and its really not that different from the panny bd30 i have. so i should be good. thanks for your advise guys. i already burned it (as an image) and i will stop by his house after work and load it for him. he only has V3.80 right now.

he tried to play miami vice and it did not load. but guess what, i went over at lunch time and reloaded in the player and it worked without the FW update. i also tried my copy of ironman and it worked also. load times were a bit slow, but after the intitial load it goes quickly after that.

yes,

i loaded the ironman disc into his player (sony S300) and it took a few minutes and then once it ws done loading the main screen came up for ironman, then went to scene select and went to the scene where ironman is flying around. looked great and sounded great.

thought it was weird that he had problems with miami vice though

i will do his FW update tonight after work for him and then he should be all set.

Just got home with Iron Man and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Iron Man does NOT play in my BDP-S300. I have the 4.2 update installed.

Also, Forgetting Sarah Marshall played initially. I was relieved, because I had been having difficulty with any disc with the U-Control features. Then, after trying Iron Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall stopped working.

I can understand certain discs being new and having to wait for an even further firmware update, but it's beyond frustrating when a disc will work once and then never again. These are BRAND NEW, store-bought discs and I take extremely good care of all my equipment.

Is ANYONE else having these issues? Please help.

So I tried countless variations of turning the player on and off, ejecting the disc, unplugging the player, etc. Iron Man finally worked after unplugging the player, letting it sit for a minute, then turning it on WITH the disc in it.

So, there's my answer I guess. For now. It's dumb that it just doesn't work.

That is actually what Sony has said will work in many cases, unplugging it so it resets and then it works. Worked 3 times for me.

according to the other threads and my expirience yesterday, you need to load the disc and just let it load and finish loading. it can take anywhere from 5 min to 30 min. but after sometime eject the disc, wait a minute and then load it again. it should load pretty quick within 15-30 seconds now.

anyway this is what happened at my friends house, he had FW version 3.80 installed and then i installed the FW update to 4.20 and ironman still worked fine. so be patient and try a few things before thinking your disc is defective.

About half way into the movie, where He is having his first flight and spots the ferris wheel, mine just suddenly stopped. No response from any of the controls except to turn it off.

I restarted and advanced to just before the same location, praying it was not a defective disc. It continued just fine. I've had this happen before and it is probably a layer transition issue. I supposed if I replay it it won't happen again. Weird. It's like a simple hick-up or spec of dust got in the way.

Well I have the 4.20 Firmware, I had NO PROB'z. Loading Time, I didnt even notice, it, scrolling was smooth as ever, it was great

Got mine yesterday. It loaded really quickly and played flawlessly. Version 4.2 here. No issues.
