I have the recent 4KUHD set and the big DVD set that I kept for the extras. I'm good.

About 90% of the debates I've gotten into on this forum has been about region coding because I don't import. It is what it is.

At this point a US Dawn set seems slim. Rubenstein has burned bridges with labels. If Severin had the budget, I could see them going for it. VS might, but I don't think they would go for it. Criterion or Kino seem like the only options since I know his rep with Shout and Arrow isn't great.

He is 77, so maybe they are all waiting for him to die. (of course there is also a chance that after he dies his estate gets tangled up in legal nonsense...)

I own the same 2 releases, along with the laserdisc, vhs, and maybe even a beta tape tossed in storage somewhere.

What’s the hold up on a North American 4K release for this?

Richard Rubinstein supposedly wants very very large figures beyond what any of the boutiques can or wish to pay. We don't know how much or if he asked the same out of Second Sight, but it's been alluded to by key players in the project they pulled some major strings to make their release happen. How or what hasn't been said.

Money or not, Rubinstein's been a roadblock and that's about all there is to it at the moment.

Rubinstein also is rumored to have had a US boutique agree to his price and then he walked before signing the licensing agreement.

As much as it sucks to see this thread get bumped and it's NOT about it getting a Region A release, it's a good thing to see more people get in the know on how much of loser Rubinstein is, so I'll take it.

How is it good business to have no deal, as opposed to a deal that isn’t high enough to his liking?

What’s Rubinstein making off the current deal for a region A release?

Nothing…because there isn’t one.

Good questions, who knows, but he has been letting Dawn screen theatrically, but that can't be making him that much money (although he doesn't really need the money, which is part of the problem.)

Maybe he just likes the attention and it's not about a payday, if he licenses all his films end of story people stop calling/talking about him. It's funny if someone did take his bait price and he still flaked on signing, that tells it all imo

The dude that has the rights. He doesn't seem to care about US audiences very much.

I remember seeing something on Twitter a couple months ago about a alleged Criterion announcement.

Yeah, they built up that garbage rumor to promote Night of the Living Dead being included in a box set.
